What it does
Parrot is a free macOS app that records calls without a bot and writes a transcript with speaker names on the machine itself. The `integrations/claude-plugin` folder in the repository turns it into an agent source: the MCP server starts with `Parrot --mcp` through `server/launch.sh`, with seven skills alongside. They include a weekly digest, a follow-up email, call prep and a PRD from calls. Server tools: `list_meetings`, `get_meeting`, `search_meetings`, `get_transcript`, `list_commitments`, `export_meeting`, `meeting_stats`, `list_profiles`, `get_profile`, `suggest_profile`. All are read-only except two: `export_meeting` saves a copy of a meeting to `Downloads/Parrot Exports`, and `suggest_profile` leaves a call profile that waits for review in the app.
Who it is for. Managers and founders with many calls who want to ask Claude about their meetings without handing recordings to a cloud service.
Good fit when
- You need to recall what you promised a client last week and by when.
- Before a partner call you want a summary of every earlier meeting with them.
- After a call you want a quick draft of a recap email with action items.
- Several customer calls are condensed into a PRD for the product team.
Not a fit when
- The computer runs Windows or Linux: the app works on macOS 14 and later.
- Meeting content must never reach Anthropic or another agent provider.
- A bot that joins the call is needed: Parrot listens to the computer's own audio.

Limitations
Needs a Mac on macOS 14 or later (Apple Silicon recommended) and an installed Parrot with access enabled in the Claude & AI Apps section. Data goes to the agent provider under your account: the README calls this the only part that is not local. On-device-only meetings are never shown to the agent. The app is built with heavy AI assistance, and the README lists known bugs: speaker mix-ups with similar voices and audio permission resets on manual builds. The license is GPL-3.0.
How to disable. Turn off the access switch in the app's Claude & AI Apps section and remove the plugin from the client. Exported copies sit in `Downloads/Parrot Exports` and are deleted separately.
FAQ
Does the agent change my meetings?
No, nearly every tool only reads. The exceptions: `export_meeting` saves a copy to `Downloads/Parrot Exports`, and `suggest_profile` leaves a profile that takes effect after you confirm it.
Does the agent see audio or keys?
No. Per the README, audio, keys and on-device-only meetings are never shown to the agent. You choose what to open: transcripts, reports, notes or call types.
Which skills ship in the plugin?
A weekly digest, a follow-up email, call prep, a PRD from calls, profile creation, profile improvement and report design.
Is a paid plan required?
The app itself is free. Agent answers run on your Claude plan or the key of another client, and speech recognition runs on the device.
How do I connect Claude Desktop?
The first-run tour does it in one click. Claude Code, Codex and Cursor connect from the Claude & AI Apps section in the sidebar.
