Extended access

Why this level

  • Through the server an agent reads call transcripts that may contain colleagues' and clients' data
  • The remote endpoint reads cloud copies of meetings with a workspace token, which has to be kept secret

Install

In your terminal, with SkillFoxx CLI

npx skillfoxx add mcp/doodlenote-mcp

Detects the agents on your machine, shows the access level and pins the version.

How we review

Extended accessThe tool runs code or makes network calls and only reads external data.

  • Through the server an agent reads call transcripts that may contain colleagues' and clients' data
  • The remote endpoint reads cloud copies of meetings with a workspace token, which has to be kept secret

This is third-party code. Review the repository files before installing.

What it does

DoodleNote records your microphone and the other side of a call on your computer, transcribes the conversation on the device and builds meeting notes with no bot in the call. The app ships with the `doodle-note-mcp` server, which opens these materials to AI agents. The server only reads: it never writes, edits or deletes. It has five tools: `list_recent_meetings` returns recent meetings (10 by default), `search_meetings` searches titles, notes and transcripts, `get_meeting` returns details of one meeting, `get_meeting_notes` gives rough and generated notes in Markdown, `get_meeting_transcript` gives speaker-attributed segments. Every response includes `schema_version`. Access is switched on by hand: the server will not start until Agent access is enabled in DoodleNote settings. That writes `~/.doodlenote/mcp.json`, and turning it off or deleting the file revokes access. For Claude web and cloud agents there is a remote endpoint, `https://www.doodlenote.ai/api/mcp`, with a read-only token.

Who it is for. People who keep call notes in DoodleNote and want to ask Claude Code or Codex what was decided in meetings and who promised what.

Good fit when

  • An agent prepares a work plan and needs the decisions from the last project meeting
  • Tasks, owners and dates must be pulled from a transcript for a tracker
  • You want the meeting where a given topic was discussed, found by a word from the notes
  • An analyst needs a quote with the speaker and the transcript position
  • A cloud agent runs on the web and reaches synced meetings with a token

Not a fit when

  • You need the agent to record or edit meetings: the server only reads
  • The meeting was not recorded in DoodleNote: the server sees only its own store
  • Call participants were not told about the recording and have not agreed to passing the materials to agents

Example request

Find last week's meetings that discussed the release and pull the decisions made and the owners from the transcripts.

Limitations

The server ships inside the DoodleNote app: macOS 14 or newer on Apple Silicon is officially supported, Windows 10 and 11 is in beta. The `npx doodle-note-mcp` line in the README is marked as future: the package is not yet published.

The remote endpoint reads synced copies of meetings, so it needs DoodleNote cloud sync. By the README it costs 10 dollars per user per month, while the local app is free and needs no account. The token is minted on the web under Settings, AI agents.

The server reads the store even while the app is closed. The repository's last commit is from November 2026.

How to disable. In DoodleNote turn off Agent access or delete `~/.doodlenote/mcp.json`: access is revoked at once. The Disconnect button next to an agent removes the entry from its config. The remote token is revoked on the web.

FAQ

How do I connect DoodleNote to Claude Code?

In the app open Settings, Agent access, turn access on and press Connect next to Claude Code. The button writes the config itself, so nothing needs installing or building. For another MCP client Copy snippet copies a ready `mcpServers` entry.

Do meeting recordings go to the cloud?

The local server reads files on your computer and nothing leaves the machine. Recording audio stays on the device and is not uploaded during sync. Only the remote endpoint uses cloud copies, and it works through sync.

How do I connect the remote server?

Mint a read-only token on the web under Settings, AI agents and run `claude mcp add --transport http doodle-note https://www.doodlenote.ai/api/mcp --header "Authorization: Bearer dnag_…"`. The token is workspace-scoped and revoked in the same place.

How do I revoke an agent's access?

Turn off Agent access in DoodleNote settings or delete `~/.doodlenote/mcp.json` and the server stops working at once. Disconnect removes the entry from the agent's config. The remote token is revoked in the web app.

Do I need a DoodleNote account?

Not for the local app and the local MCP server: by the README it is free, with no account and no meeting limits. An account and paid sync, 10 dollars per user per month, are needed for the remote endpoint.

README in short

The README presents DoodleNote as a local meeting capture app with no bot: on-device transcription, notes through a local model or your own key. Agent access under your control is listed among its advantages. The repository map names the `doodle-note-mcp` package as a separate module.
