Recraft MCP
Recraft's remote MCP server: an agent draws raster and vector images, edits a region, removes the background and upscales
Extended access
Why this level
- Signing in gives the agent access to the Recraft account and its credits
- Prompts and images are sent to the external Recraft service
Install
- Works in
Manual install
claude mcp add --transport http recraft https://mcp.recraft.ai/mcpAfter adding, open /mcp and sign in to Recraft in the browser. In Claude Code on the web, allow img.recraft.ai in network access.
Access and checks
How we reviewExtended accessThe tool runs code or makes network calls and only reads external data.
- Signing in gives the agent access to the Recraft account and its credits
- Prompts and images are sent to the external Recraft service
This is third-party code. Review the repository files before installing.
What it does
Recraft's official remote server connects an agent to the image generation service. Through it the agent creates images from text, raster and vector, makes variations and transformations, edits a selected region, removes objects, removes, replaces or generates a background, converts raster to vector, upscales and creates custom styles. Account information is available too. No local install or API key is needed: sign-in happens in the browser through OAuth 2.0, and the client stores the credentials.
Who it is for. For designers, marketers and developers who make illustrations, covers and mockups and want to get them from an agent chat without opening Recraft Studio.
Good fit when
- You need illustrations or covers in one style, and the agent should generate them as it works
- You need a vector result: a logo, an icon or a diagram that scales
- You need to quickly remove a background, erase an object or upscale a finished image
Not a fit when
- You cannot send images and descriptions to the external Recraft service
- You need a local server without an account sign-in: this one works only through the remote address and OAuth
Example request
Draw a vector rocket icon in a flat style and remove the background from the finished article coverMCP

Limitations
Every operation spends credits of the Recraft plan, the same as in Recraft Studio: the free plan gives a limited number of credits, paid plans give a monthly volume with top-ups. Signing in gives the agent access to the Recraft account: it spends credits, reads and creates styles and sees account details. Images and prompts go to the Recraft service. Availability from Russia is not stated in the documentation. Claude Code on the web needs img.recraft.ai allowed in network access. The old local server with an API key is closed by its author, so use the remote one.
How to disable. Remove the server from the client (in Claude Code: claude mcp remove recraft) and revoke the app's access in the Recraft account settings.
FAQ
Do I need a Recraft API key?
No. The server uses browser sign-in over OAuth 2.0; no key and no local install.
How much does it cost to work through MCP?
Operations spend credits of your Recraft plan, the same as in Recraft Studio. The server documentation gives no prices; see the plans on the Recraft site.
How do I connect it to Cursor or VS Code?
In Cursor add a recraft entry with the address https://mcp.recraft.ai/mcp to ~/.cursor/mcp.json. In VS Code add it to .vscode/mcp.json with the http type.
What happened to the old local Recraft server?
The author closed the old local package with an API key and moved users to the remote server. It does not need a separate catalog entry.

README in short
The documentation describes Recraft's remote MCP server at https://mcp.recraft.ai/mcp with Streamable HTTP transport and OAuth sign-in. It lists the operations: images from text, variations, region editing, object removal, background work, raster to vector conversion, upscaling, custom styles and account details. Connection commands are given for Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Cursor, VS Code and Claude connectors. Payment is in credits of the Recraft plan.
