What it does
The plugin connects nine cloud storages to Obsidian: Baidu Netdisk, OneDrive, Aliyun Drive, 115, Quark, Tencent COS, Nutstore, InfiniCloud and 123 Pan. It handles backups, two-way sync with conflict merging and embedding links to cloud files in notes. The built-in MCP server exposes these files to agents over SSE. There are 12 tools: listing, reading, creating, moving, renaming, deleting, uploading and downloading files, account info and semantic search. For automation there are also Obsidian CLI commands such as `sync-vault:list` and `sync-vault:search`.
Who it is for. Obsidian users with a large cloud drive who want to open it to Claude Code or Cursor without copying files locally.
Good fit when
- An Obsidian vault lives on Baidu Netdisk or Aliyun Drive and the agent needs access to PDFs and media.
- Notes are edited from three devices and content conflicts should merge automatically.
- The agent has to find a file on a cloud drive by the meaning of a query.
- A vault backup is uploaded to several cloud folders at once.
Not a fit when
- The agent must not get rights to delete and move cloud files.
- You need an Obsidian MCP without cloud drives: `mcp-obsidian` or an MCP inside Obsidian fits more simply.
- The vault lives on a cloud that is not among the nine.
Example request
Through sync-vault-mcp list the /Notes folder on aliyun and read Welcome.md.MCP

Limitations
The server is reachable over SSE, the default address is `http://127.0.0.1:3000/sse`, and the port in the client config must match the real one. In the examples the client connects to that address without a token. The delete, move and rename tools act on real drive files, so give the agent only the access it needs. Semantic search, share links and upload by URL work only with Baidu Netdisk. Claude Desktop understands only stdio, so the `@mcpwizard/sse-bridge` bridge is needed. The plugin installs from the Obsidian catalog, and cloud login goes through a wizard inside the plugin.
How to disable. Remove the `sync-vault-mcp` block from the client's MCP config and disable the plugin in Obsidian settings. Revoke granted cloud access on the provider side.
FAQ
How do I connect Sync Vault to Claude Code?
Add a `sync-vault-mcp` server of type `sse` at `http://127.0.0.1:3000/sse` to `.claude/mcp.json`. Replace port 3000 with the one shown in the plugin.
How do I connect it to Claude Desktop?
Install the bridge with `npm install -g @mcpwizard/sse-bridge`, then in developer settings set the `npx` command with arguments `@mcpwizard/sse-bridge` and the SSE server address.
Which tools does the server expose?
Twelve: `list_cloud_files`, `read_cloud_file`, `create_cloud_file`, `move_cloud_file`, `rename_cloud_file`, `delete_cloud_file`, `upload_cloud_file`, `download_cloud_file`, `get_cloud_account_info`, `semantic_search`, `sharelink_set` and `upload_by_url`.
Which CLI commands exist?
Six: `sync-vault:help`, `sync-vault:list`, `sync-vault:search`, `sync-vault:read`, `sync-vault:info` and `sync-vault:doctor`. They run through `obsidian`, for example `obsidian sync-vault:list path=/ cloud=aliyun limit=100`.
Are notes encrypted during sync?
End-to-end encryption is stated for Markdown files. The same settings cover ignoring large files and regular-expression exclusions.

README in short
The project calls itself the bridge between a 10 TB cloud drive and an AI: images, PDFs, audio and video open across devices without filling local storage. The community runs a Discord and the source lives in the Community Edition repository.
