VidMoat MCP
Vidmoat MCP
Remote MCP server of a cloud video editor: an agent imports footage, edits the timeline, checks frames and renders MP4
Broad access
Why this level
- Video, captions and frames go to the vendor's server, rendering runs in its cloud, and the assistant receives frames and project text and passes them to its own provider
- Write, generation and render tools change projects and spend credits, so grant only the permissions you need at sign-in
- Third-party plugin operators can add tools and receive their arguments
Install
- Works in
In your terminal, with SkillFoxx CLI
npx skillfoxx add mcp/vidmoat-mcpDetects the agents on your machine, shows the access level and pins the version.

What it does
VidMoat is a cloud video editor with a browser version, phone and desktop apps and a Telegram bot. The vendor hosts the MCP server itself: projects, media and renders stay on its side, and the agent works with the same project document and the same editing rules as the editor. The agent imports or uploads footage, analyzes it for scenes, faces, dead air, on-screen text and sound, then applies timeline commands through edit_project. It checks the result by eye: preview_frame and preview_strip return frames, and edit_project accepts previewAt marks and returns frames together with its answer. A finished project goes to MP4 through render_project, and get_render_status shows progress. According to the developer, there are more than 65 timeline commands. Beyond editing, the server offers speech transcription, image, video, speech and music generation, stock media search, post scheduling and credit tracking. Installed plugins add their own tools to the list.
Who it is for. For short-video creators, social media managers, marketers and founders who hand a rough cut, captions and vertical versions to an agent in Claude Code, Cursor or Claude. OAuth sign-in works on every plan, the free one included.
Good fit when
- A long call or podcast recording has to be cut up: the agent finds pauses and strong moments, cuts and builds a vertical version with captions
- You want a checkable edit: the agent looks at preview frames, finds overlapping titles and fixes them before export
- A video is built from a brief with footage, brand colors, length and format, and the agent shows the opening, each text change and the ending
- A recording needs a word-level transcript with timestamps for captions
- The agent builds a draft and you prefer to finish it by hand: the project opens in the browser editor with the same edits
Not a fit when
- You need editing without uploading files to someone else's server: sources and projects live with the vendor and rendering runs in its cloud
- You need open code or a local install: the server is closed and has no public repository
- The footage is under NDA or shows third parties' personal data: frames and text go to the assistant and the vendor's AI providers
- The free plan is not enough: Hobby gives 8 exports a month up to 720p with a watermark and 40 AI credits
- You need video generation or a personal API key: both open only on the Studio plan

Take my call recording, cut the pauses, add captions, build a 45-second vertical version and show me the opening and ending frames before exportMCP

Environment variables
VIDMOAT_KEYsecret- Vidmoat API key for connecting without OAuth. Personal keys are available on the Studio plan.
Limitations
The service is closed and some features are paid for with credits. According to the developer as of October 28, 2026, the free Hobby plan gives 40 credits a month, 3 projects, 500 MB of storage and 8 exports a month up to 720p with a watermark. Creator costs 19 dollars a month, Studio 49. Edits, renders and AI features through MCP follow the same limits and spend the same credits as in the editor.
The server accepts 60 requests a minute per account, and a JSON-RPC batch holds up to 10 messages. The vendor's materials disagree on the tool count: the MCP page says more than a hundred, the documentation more than eighty, so rely on the tools/list answer. The service is foreign, prices are in dollars, and the vendor does not state availability from Russia.
How to disable. Open vidmoat.com/oauth/connected and revoke the assistant connection: access and refresh tokens are deleted, and the next call is refused. An API key is revoked in the developer console. Then remove the server from the agent's settings: in Claude Code with `claude mcp remove vidmoat`.
FAQ
How do I connect VidMoat MCP to Claude, Claude Code or Cursor?
Any client with OAuth support connects by a single server address: it finds the authorization server from the 401 answer and opens sign-in with consent. That is how Claude connectors, Claude Code and Cursor all sign in, on every plan including the free one. A personal API key in the Authorization header is an option for the Studio plan; a ready command and a settings snippet are listed below in the install methods.
Do I need a paid plan for VidMoat MCP?
OAuth sign-in works on every plan, the free Hobby plan included. Paid features depend on the plan: video generation and personal API keys exist only on Studio, and 4K without a watermark opens on Creator. AI features spend credits from the monthly allowance.
What does my assistant receive and what does the vendor keep?
The assistant receives what the called tools return: project documents, clip names and timings, captions, metadata, frames and export URLs. The assistant's operator, such as Anthropic or OpenAI, is responsible for that data on its own. The vendor logs every tool call for 90 days: the tool, the assistant, the project, the outcome and credits used, never prompts, text or media links.
Where are my videos stored?
According to the vendor's privacy policy, files and the database are in the European Union and videos are not used to train models. For AI processing, text and some frames go to providers in Singapore, China and the United States.
Can I finish the agent's edit by hand?
Yes. The project opens in the browser editor and in the apps with the same projects, and every agent edit stays editable.

README in short
The vendor's documentation leads from the server address to sign-in and consent, then to the tool list and limits. Permissions are set by scopes: projects, media, render, AI features, speech, webhooks and Telegram bot users. The vendor asks to take the tool list from the tools/list answer because it is extended often.
