What it does
WSL Manager gives a GUI for the Windows Subsystem for Linux and native VMs on macOS: install, back up, move and configure distros without console flags. A built-in MCP server exposes the same tools as the internal chat: list and inspect distros, run commands, edit config, create snippets, mount disks and reach WSL over SSH. It also offers a read-only mode for clusters: inspect workloads, pods, events and logs without making changes.

The MCP server is enabled in settings and belongs to the paid Pro tier. It listens only on the loopback address 127.0.0.1:59133/mcp and is guarded by a token. For stdio clients the HTTP endpoint is bridged via mcp-remote. MCP tools can run commands inside distros, so access must be restricted.
How to disable. Turn off the MCP server in the app settings, remove the server from your MCP client config and uninstall the app if needed.

Is the MCP server reachable from the network?
No. It listens only on the 127.0.0.1 loopback and requires the token shown in settings.
Can the agent only read cluster state?
Yes, clusters have a read-only mode: workloads, pods, events and logs, with no right to restart anything.
