What it does
The plugin connects the Astravue cloud project management service to an agent at `https://api.astravue.com/mcp`. The agent searches spaces, projects and tasks, creates and edits tasks, subtasks, checklists and comments, starts timers, logs time manually and builds timesheets. The server has 87 tools in total, including custom fields and bulk task creation (up to 100 per call). The plugin bundles eight skills for typical scenarios: sprint planning, a status report, time tracking, breaking a goal into a task tree, tasks from meeting notes, a dependency map with the critical path, triage of overdue work and custom field management. Sign-in uses OAuth 2.0 and permissions come from the user role in Astravue.
Who it is for. Project managers and Astravue teams who run tasks and time from Claude Code, Cursor or Claude Desktop.
Good fit when
- Before a sprint the agent reviews the backlog, overdue items and dependencies and returns a prioritized plan.
- Meeting notes turn into tasks with owners and dates in one request.
- A weekly status report on progress, budget and trouble spots is assembled for a manager.
- An epic is broken into a task tree with dependencies and the critical path is found.
Not a fit when
- The team works in another tracker: the plugin is tied to Astravue.
- The service must not be handed to an agent at all: the tools can delete spaces, projects and tasks.
- A local server without the cloud is needed: the connection goes only to `api.astravue.com`.
Example request
Take the meeting notes from this note, create tasks with owners and due dates and show what is already overdue in the project.Limitations
The server is cloud-hosted: the connection goes to `https://api.astravue.com/mcp` and needs Astravue sign-in in the browser. The limit is 100 requests per user per minute, and on excess HTTP 429 returns and a 60-second wait follows. Clients on an API key, Bedrock or Vertex do not get Claude.ai connectors and connect with `claude mcp add`. Permissions are capped by the role in Astravue, so what is closed in the app stays closed through MCP.
How to disable. In Claude Code disable the plugin through `/plugin` or run `claude mcp remove astravue`. The Claude.ai connector is turned off in connector settings, and access can also be revoked in Astravue itself.
FAQ
How do I install Astravue in Claude Code?
Run `/plugin marketplace add AstravueOrg/astravue-mcp-server`, then `/plugin install astravue@astravue` and `/reload-plugins`. The `/mcp` command shows `astravue` with a connected status.
How do I connect only the MCP server without the skills?
Run `claude mcp add --transport http astravue https://api.astravue.com/mcp`. The browser opens Astravue sign-in and after you approve, access appears in the session.
What do the plugin skills do?
Eight scenarios: sprint planning, a status report, time tracking, custom fields, breaking work into tasks, tasks from meeting notes, a dependency map and overdue triage. The agent picks a skill by the meaning of the request.
What permissions does the agent get?
The same as your role in Astravue: organization, space, project and task checks work as in the web app. What is closed in the app is closed through MCP too.
Are there rate limits?
Yes, 100 requests per user per minute. After an HTTP 429 response wait 60 seconds. Bulk task creation takes up to 100 tasks per call.
