How we reviewExtended accessThe tool runs code or makes network calls and only reads external data.

What it does
The server connects Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Kiro and other MCP clients to the Super Productivity planner. An agent adds tasks with short syntax such as `Buy milk #shopping @tomorrow 15m`, where tag, due date and time estimate are parsed from the text. There are more than thirty tools: tasks and subtasks, projects, tags, habits, recurring tasks, time tracking and a worklog for a period. Bulk operations complete and update several tasks in one call. The setup has two parts. A `plugin.zip` plugin is uploaded into Super Productivity, and the MCP server runs through `npx`. You can check the connection with the `check_connection` call.
Who it is for. Super Productivity users who keep tasks and time tracking there and want an agent to triage them.
Good fit when
- In the morning you need a weekly plan: overdue items, today's tasks and subtasks of a large goal.
- A project backlog is tagged and scheduled with one message.
- Time for past days is backfilled through a per-date worklog.
- Habits are ticked and corrected from history without manual clicks.
Not a fit when
- Super Productivity is not running: the plugin answers only while the app is open.
- You need to clear the task archive, which the plugin reads but does not change.
- Tasks live in Todoist or another cloud service: the server works only with Super Productivity.
Example request
Show overdue tasks and today's plan, break Launch blog into subtasks and start the timer on the first one.MCP

Limitations
Super Productivity 19.0.1 or newer, Node.js 18 or newer and an MCP client are required. After the plugin upload the app asks once for permission to run Node, and you must allow it. `plan_tasks_for_today` sets `plannedAt`, but the task may not appear in the Today view. `update_task` can set `remind_at` but cannot clear it. Folders cannot be listed through the server, so their identifier is taken from the interface. The `delete_project` and `delete_task` tools delete permanently.
How to disable. Remove the super-productivity entry from the client configuration, for Claude Code run `claude mcp remove super-productivity`, and disable the plugin in Super Productivity settings.
FAQ
How do I connect the server to Claude Code?
Run `claude mcp add -s user super-productivity npx -- -y super-productivity-mcp` and restart the session. `claude mcp list` shows that the server is added.
Why does Super Productivity need a plugin?
The server talks to the app through the plugin. Extract `plugin.zip` with `npx -y super-productivity-mcp@latest --extract-plugin` and upload it with the Upload Plugin button in the Plugins section of Settings.
How do I check the connection?
Ask the agent to check the Super Productivity connection. It calls `check_connection`, and the reply shows whether the app is running and the plugin answers.
Can the server run without npx?
Yes. Install the package with `npm install -g super-productivity-mcp` and set the `super-productivity-mcp` command in the client configuration, or build the server from source.
Which tools delete data?
`delete_task`, `delete_project` and `delete_habit` delete with no way back. Archived tasks cannot be deleted: the plugin reads the archive but does not change it.

README in short
The repository holds a TypeScript MCP server and a plugin for Super Productivity. Time is stored as a per-day worklog and the total is recomputed from it on every write. The licence is MIT, and a separate guide covers local deployment on macOS.
