Access and checks
How we reviewExtended accessThe tool runs code or makes network calls and only reads external data.

- The exec skill runs an approved plan autonomously, so check the plan before launching
This is third-party code. Review the repository files before installing.
What it does
cc-thingz is a marketplace of seven plugins the author uses daily. Any of them installs on its own. brainstorm runs a dialogue from idea through approaches to a design and a plan. review goes through a pull request, lets you annotate a git diff and holds a writing style guide. planning provides a make command, an exec skill for autonomous plan execution and a hook that opens annotation before plan mode exits. release-tools automates versioning, release notes and changelog updates. thinking-tools holds the skills ask-codex, dialectic and root-cause-investigator: a consultation with Codex, a dialectical analysis and a root-cause search. skill-eval adds a hook that forces skill evaluation before every answer. workflow gathers session helpers: learn, clarify, wrong, md-copy, txt-copy and backlog for deferred work. Installation goes through /plugin marketplace add. For every plugin the README also gives a manual option: copy files into ~/.claude/skills and register hooks in settings.json.
Who it is for. For Claude Code developers who want a ready process from discussing an idea to a plan, execution, review and release.
Good fit when
- You want to turn an idea into a design and a plan through dialogue before writing code: the brainstorm plugin does this
- You need to review a pull request or your own changes in a git diff with annotations inside the session
- A plan is already approved and has to run autonomously through the exec skill
- Before a release you need to bump the version, assemble notes and update the changelog with release-tools
- You want to park a task found along the way in a backlog without interrupting the current one: the backlog skill
Not a fit when
- You need one small skill rather than a set: install only the plugin you need or take a separate repository
- You do not work in Claude Code: the plugins, hooks and commands are written for it
- Someone else's working style does not fit you: the author calls the set opinionated and a reflection of his habits
- Hooks cannot be run: skill-eval and planning put hooks into settings.json
Example request
Run brainstorm on the idea of exporting a report to PDF, then build a plan with make and run it through execLimitations
- The plugins reflect the author's personal process and do not fit everyone. They depend on one another weakly, but planning calls scripts from the plugin directory.
- A manual install means editing ${CLAUDE_PLUGIN_ROOT} references in SKILL.md and command files to local paths.
- Hooks (plan-annotate.py on ExitPlanMode, skill-forced-eval-hook.sh on UserPromptSubmit) must be registered in settings.json by hand if you do not install through the marketplace.
- Through the /plugin menu the cache can go stale: updating the marketplace is more reliable.
- The ask-codex skill assumes Codex is installed.
How to disable. The /plugin command opens the list of installed plugins, where any can be disabled or removed. After a manual install delete the copied folders from ~/.claude/skills and the hook entries from settings.json.
FAQ
How do I install cc-thingz in Claude Code?
Add the marketplace with /plugin marketplace add umputun/cc-thingz, then install the plugins you want, for example /plugin install brainstorm@umputun-cc-thingz. Restart Claude Code afterwards.
Which plugins are in cc-thingz?
Seven: brainstorm, review, planning, release-tools, thinking-tools, skill-eval and workflow. Each is described in marketplace.json, from the idea-design-plan dialogue to a backlog of deferred tasks.
How do I try a plugin locally before installing?
The command claude --plugin-dir plugins/brainstorm loads a plugin from a cloned repository for one session.
What does the skill-eval plugin do?
It is a UserPromptSubmit hook: before every answer it makes Claude Code evaluate which skills fit the request. The hook is installed by the skill-forced-eval-hook.sh script.
How do I update the plugins?
In the /plugin menu choose Marketplaces and Update marketplace: this refreshes the catalog right away. The Installed section with Update now uses a local cache and can lag behind. Auto-update is enabled in the same menu.

README in short
The README opens with the author's stance: the set is opinionated, he uses every skill himself, some several times a day. Then come installation through the marketplace and local plugin testing, a collapsed section with the manual install of each of the seven plugins and notes about hooks. The file closes with updating: two paths through the plugin menu and advice to enable marketplace auto-update.
