Broad access

Why this level

  • Generators write code into your project: networking, purchases, authentication and persistence layers
  • The `asc.py` helper with your App Store Connect key can change in-app purchase prices and URLs, though by default it only prints the request and writes after `--apply`
  • The script needs a private key with the App Manager role, stored on your disk

Manual install

/plugin marketplace add rshankras/claude-code-apple-skills
/plugin install apple-skills@indie-apple-stack

The recommended route. To update: `/plugin marketplace update indie-apple-stack`.

What it does

Claude Code Apple Skills is a library of 164 skills in 23 categories for developers on Apple platforms. The largest category, generators, holds 63 code generators: an async/await networking layer, StoreKit 2 subscriptions, Sign in with Apple, widgets, Live Activities, CloudKit sync, GDPR consent, account deletion and more. Generators adapt to your project's structure. The product category walks from choosing an idea to release, while app-store covers keywords, descriptions, screenshots, review replies, Apple Search Ads, rejection handling and in-app purchase finalization. Other categories cover testing and TDD, SwiftUI, Swift 6.2, design and Liquid Glass, performance in Instruments, privacy, monetization, Apple Intelligence, Core ML, and distribution for watchOS and visionOS. When installed as a plugin, only 23 short category descriptions enter the context. A category skill such as `/apple-skills:generators` opens the right nested skill on demand. The same marketplace offers a second plugin, SwiftShip, with 53 `/apple:*` commands for spec-driven work.

Who it is for. For indie developers and small teams building apps for iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch and Vision Pro and taking them through to the store.

Good fit when

  • A new app needs ready layers: logging, async/await networking, SwiftData persistence, StoreKit 2 subscriptions
  • You have no idea yet and say "I don't know what to build": the product category helps choose and test a direction
  • Before App Store submission you must pick keywords, write the description, plan screenshots and prepare for common rejection reasons
  • You need a code or UI review for iOS and a check against the HIG, accessibility and privacy
  • You want to adopt new APIs in an existing app: Liquid Glass, Foundation Models, AlarmKit, App Intents

Not a fit when

  • The project is not on Apple platforms: the library is built for Swift, SwiftUI and Xcode
  • You need one narrow topic, such as a SwiftUI reference: a small focused set is easier to carry than 164 skills
  • You are not ready to issue an App Store Connect key: the scripts that upload prices and URLs work only with your separate key
  • You want App Store Connect tools called straight from the agent: the author ships a separate MCP server for that, not skills

Example request

I want a macOS notes app. Validate the idea, then generate a SwiftData persistence layer and a settings screen

Limitations

The plugin tracks `main` with no version pinning. For a stable snapshot the author offers era tags such as `wwdc25-era-final`: clone the repository at the tag and copy `skills/` by hand. Some skills are tied to recent APIs and Xcode versions, so in older projects you must check results against Apple's documentation. The author themselves asks you to verify App Store Connect endpoints against current docs before writing: the flows in the skills were captured in July 2026.

Skills that upload in-app purchases and legal links work through `asc.py`. It needs a separate `.p8` private key with the App Manager role under `~/.appstoreconnect/`, the Python `cryptography` library and the `ASC_KEY_ID` and `ASC_ISSUER_ID` values. The key can be downloaded once. The whole library is instructions for the agent and code the agent generates: you review and build the results yourself, and responsibility for the release stays with you.

How to disable. Open the `/plugin` menu in Claude Code and remove the apple-skills plugin, with the indie-apple-stack marketplace too if you like. If you copied the `skills` directory by hand, delete it from `.claude/skills/` or `~/.claude/skills/`. Delete the App Store Connect key in `~/.appstoreconnect/` separately and revoke it in the console.

FAQ

How do I install Claude Code Apple Skills?

In Claude Code run `/plugin marketplace add rshankras/claude-code-apple-skills`, then `/plugin install apple-skills@indie-apple-stack`. To update, run `/plugin marketplace update indie-apple-stack`. Manually, clone the repository and copy the `skills` folder into the project's `.claude/skills/` or `~/.claude/skills/`.

Why does the plugin show 23 skills when the library has 164?

The plugin exposes 23 category skills so the context holds short descriptions. A category skill such as `/apple-skills:testing` routes to the right nested skill on request.

What does asc.py do, and can it break anything?

It is a helper for the App Store Connect REST API that signs requests with your key. By default it only prints the request and sends nothing; writes happen after the `--apply` flag. The `.p8` key is separate from the metadata MCP server's key, lives in `~/.appstoreconnect/` and stays out of the repository.

How do the skills differ from SwiftShip?

The skill library is knowledge plus code generators. SwiftShip is 53 `/apple:*` commands for spec-driven work from idea to App Store; it installs from the same marketplace with `/plugin install apple@indie-apple-stack` and reads this library.

What is in the App Store category?

Twelve skills: keyword optimizer, description writer, screenshot planner, review replies, Apple Search Ads, ad attribution, rejection handler, originality check, ratings mechanics, in-app purchase finalizer, marketing strategy and web presence.

README in short

The description starts with the author's four repositories as layers of an indie developer's stack: knowledge, workflow, action and App Store Connect integration. Next come a category table with skill counts, a quick start for three situations, installation as a plugin or by copying, and pinning by era tags. The directory layout and tables of generators and skills by section fill the rest.
