How we review

Extended accessThe tool runs code or makes network calls and only reads external data.

  • Hooks read conversations, write logs and update project guidance in `CLAUDE.md`.

This is third-party code. Review the repository files before installing.

What it does

CPR for Claude Code adds three project-memory commands. Compress prepares a structured session log, preserve moves key learnings into `CLAUDE.md`, and resume finds earlier material and restores relevant context. Two hooks support the workflow: one saves raw conversation before compaction and another supplies a short restart brief. Logs remain ordinary Markdown files in the project. They can be read, searched by topic and shared with teammates after their contents are reviewed.

Who it is for. For developers continuing a project across Claude Code sessions while retaining decision history.

Good fit when

  • Preserve work before context compaction.
  • Start a session with the current project state.
  • Find a decision by topic in earlier conversations.
  • Move an important convention into `CLAUDE.md`.

Not a fit when

  • Work consists of one-off conversations.
  • Full conversations cannot be stored in the project.
  • Logs would be published without checking for secrets.

Example request

Preserve the task state with CPR, distinguish open questions from decisions and show what will enter the log.

Limitations

Claude Code plugin support and Python 3.10 or later are required for bundled scripts. Raw conversations are retained in the project and may contain secrets; prepare storage and Git exclusions before normal use. Pre-compaction autosave keeps the text, but a useful summary is best prepared with `/cpr:compress` separately. `CLAUDE.md` changes affect future sessions; inspect preserved rules so a temporary decision does not become a permanent instruction.

How to disable. Run `/plugin uninstall cpr@cpr`. `CC-Session-Logs/` and `CLAUDE.md` edits remain and need separate review.

When do commands become available after installation?

Run `/reload-plugins` or restart Claude Code if you installed the plugin inside an existing session.

The plugin retains work state alongside the host’s memory. `CLAUDE.md` remains project guidance, while logs retain session detail.
