Why this level

  • The mods attach to Claude Code through an early hooks API and add the tools mcp__savvy-progress__progress and mcp__savvy-progress__step
  • Worker subagents edit project files, and in an empty folder the flow runs git init and commits on its own, without pushing
  • On macOS session-band builds and runs a helper app for notifications

What it does

The repository bundles three Claude Code plugins, and each installs on its own. The savvy-flow skill starts with /savvy-flow and a task description. The session model writes a plan, owns the design, hands implementation to worker subagents and reviews their output critically. Workers come in five tiers, from savvy-light for mechanical edits to savvy-fable for the hardest logic, and the cheapest tier that gets the task right the first time goes first. The savvy-progress mod draws a progress bar above the prompt and a live panel of subagents: model, effort, task progress, context fill, estimated cost and time. The session-band mod shows a status band with the turn number, response speed, cost of the turn and the session, a countdown of the one-hour prompt cache and context fill. Twenty minutes before the cache expires the band frame turns amber, ten minutes before it turns red.

Who it is for. Claude Code developers who run large tasks through subagents and want to see progress and how long the prompt cache has left.

Good fit when

  • A task touches several files and splits into independent parts, and an expensive model is wasted on mechanical edits
  • You want to see above the prompt how many planned tasks are accepted and what each subagent is doing right now
  • A session runs for hours and you want a notification ten minutes before the one-hour prompt cache expires
  • A project starts in an empty folder: the flow first writes docs/SPEC.md and docs/PLAN.md and only then hands tasks to workers
  • The cost of a turn and a session is useful as a token-based guide, not as an exact bill

Not a fit when

  • A one-line edit: planning and delegation take longer than the edit itself
  • Your plan has no Fable model and you would rather not edit agents/savvy-fable.md
  • Your Claude Code is older than the tested 2.1.286: the mods rely on an early function-hooks API that may change
  • You need an exact cost in money: the mod estimates roughly from a price table dated 2026-10-10

Example request

/savvy-flow add CSV report export to the project: write a plan, hand it to workers and review the result

Limitations

  • The mods rely on Claude Code's early function-hooks API (hooks/register.tsx), were tested on version 2.1.286 and may break after an update. If a mod from the marketplace does not show up, load it by hand.
  • The savvy-fable agent runs on the Fable model. Without access to it, change the model line in agents/savvy-fable.md, for example to opus.
  • The cost in the panel is rough: prices come from a built-in table dated 2026-10-10, and cache writes are priced at the one-hour rate. A session with a five-minute cache gets an inflated figure.
  • The session-band notifications are built on a Mac by notifier/build.sh and need Xcode command line tools. Without them the mod falls back to Claude Code's own notification, without a title.

How to disable. Remove a plugin from the /plugin menu. A skill and agents copied by hand are deleted from ~/.claude/skills and ~/.claude/agents. A mod loaded through CLAUDE_CODE_PLUGIN_DIRS stops loading once its folder is removed from that variable in ~/.claude/settings.json.

FAQ

How do I install savvy-flow in Claude Code?

Add the marketplace with /plugin marketplace add johnnyvizz/claude-kit and run /plugin install savvy-flow@claude-kit. After the session restarts the skill is /savvy-flow:savvy-flow and the workers are named savvy-flow:savvy-careful and so on. Copying the folders into ~/.claude/skills by hand keeps the names short: /savvy-flow.

Does savvy-flow need savvy-progress to work?

No, the skill and the agents run alone. When the savvy-progress mod is installed, the orchestrator reports the plan and accepted tasks to it and workers report their steps to the panel. Without the mod those calls are skipped.

When does session-band warn that the cache is expiring?

The mod counts an hour from the last response. The band frame turns amber 20 minutes before the end and red at 10. System notifications arrive at 10 and 5 minutes left and stay quiet while a turn runs.

What does the /agents-info command do?

It shows or hides the subagents panel of the savvy-progress mod. /agents-info open opens the panel or brings it forward without toggling.

How do I load a mod by hand if it does not show up from the marketplace?

Clone the repository and start Claude Code with claude --plugin-dir ~/claude-kit/plugins/savvy-progress, which covers one session. For every session put the folder into the CLAUDE_CODE_PLUGIN_DIRS variable in the env section of ~/.claude/settings.json and separate several folders with a colon.
