What it does
The dart-flutter plugin bundles skills, Dart MCP server setup and rules for Flutter development. The skills teach the agent common tasks: integration and widget tests, widget previews, layered architecture split into UI, logic and data, responsive layouts with LayoutBuilder and MediaQuery, fixing errors like `RenderFlex overflowed`, JSON serialization, go_router routing, localization and requests with the http package. The dart mcp-server gives the agent SDK tools. The repository also holds Dart skills: static analysis, test coverage, mocks, FFI, pattern matching and code documentation.
Who it is for. For Flutter developers who ask Claude Code, Cursor or Codex to write code following the framework team's guidance.
Good fit when
- The agent has to add an integration test for a checkout flow using Flutter Driver
- A screen overflows with the keyboard open and you need the RenderFlex error resolved
- The home page should be a grid on tablets and a list on phones
- You need localization set up with flutter_localizations and l10n.yaml from scratch
- The project moves to a layered architecture and the agent needs reference rules
Not a fit when
- The project is not Flutter and Dart: the skills are tied to their SDK
- You want a community set of 36 skills: Flutter AI Skills and Rules covers it
- The Dart SDK is not installed: the Dart MCP server starts with dart mcp-server
- You must adopt a third-party state manager: the skills describe the team's recommended path
Example request
Add a widget test for CustomButton and check that onTap firesLimitations
The Dart MCP server needs the Dart SDK installed: the plugin runs the dart mcp-server command. The authors do not accept pull requests for now and ask for feedback only. Some Dart skills are synced from another source, which the sync_skills and block-dart-skills-prs workflows show. Detailed install steps for each agent are in the flutter.dev docs, while the commands below follow the plugin manifest.
How to disable. In Claude Code disable the dart-flutter plugin through /plugin. In other agents remove the plugin or the dart-mcp-server entry from the MCP configuration.
FAQ
How do I install the Flutter plugin in Claude Code?
Run /plugin marketplace add flutter/agent-plugins and then /plugin install dart-flutter@dart-flutter. The plugin and marketplace names come from the .claude-plugin manifest.

The Dart MCP server, started with dart mcp-server. It gives the agent Dart and Flutter SDK tools and serves skills that fix layout or run tests.
Where are the Dart-only skills?
The repository holds a set of Dart skills: tests, coverage, mocks, static analysis, FFI and documentation. Pure Dart also has the separate dart-lang/skills repository.
How does the plugin help with RenderFlex overflowed?
The flutter-fix-layout-issues skill works through overflows and unbounded height using the Dart and Flutter MCP tools.
Does the plugin work in Cursor and Codex?
Yes, the repository has .cursor-plugin and .codex-plugin manifests next to .claude-plugin. Steps for each agent are described on flutter.dev.

README in short
The Flutter team maintains this repository. It collects plugins where skills, MCP settings and rules sit together. A skill is a folder of files that tells the agent how to use tools, while MCP supplies the tools themselves. A table lists ten Flutter skills with an example prompt for each, and installation is left to the flutter.dev docs.
