What it does
The toolkit complements the official ydb-platform/ydb-mcp server, which gives general database-level tools like ad hoc SQL queries. This project handles a different job: operating the local-ydb Docker deployment itself, locally or over SSH. Its tools check host prerequisites, bootstrap root and tenant databases, manage dynamic node lifecycle, check GraphShard, generate, validate and apply table DDL, harden auth, handle storage, and run dump and restore. The local_ydb_sql tool is deliberately narrower than the official server's general SQL tool: it runs only managed YQL against the selected local profile. Mutating tools show a plan first and require confirm: true before executing. It publishes as the @astandrik/local-ydb-mcp npm package and as an Agent Plugin for Codex, Claude Code and Gemini CLI.

The MCP server needs Node.js 20.19 or newer plus npx, and its first start reaches out to the npm registry for the @astandrik/local-ydb-mcp package. Publication to the Claude Community plugin catalog and the Gemini extension gallery was not yet complete at review time; direct install from the repository already works. The README explicitly calls external scores like VerifyMCP and glama directory snapshots, not security attestations.
How to disable. Remove the plugin with codex plugin remove, or delete the .mcp.json config and the skills/local-ydb folder.
