What it does
The plugin drives the path from a one-line goal to shipped code through several stages. A short interview captures requirements, then a PRD is written, scored against deterministic checks with a letter grade, and placeholders like TBD and TODO are a hard fail. The PRD is parsed into a task graph with dependencies and subtasks, and each task is executed and must produce evidence of its result. Completion is confirmed by a token that is emitted only when every check passes, and state lives in plain repository files.

The project is pre-alpha, with possible breakage and changes between releases; pin a version if you need stability. It needs Python 3.11 or newer and Linux, macOS or WSL. The free engine needs no paid key and uses the model CLIs you already have, so availability depends on access to those agents.
How to disable. Remove the plugin via /plugin in Claude Code and uninstall the prd_taskmaster package from your Python environment.

Do I need a paid API key?
No. The free engine runs on the model CLIs you already have; no separate paid key is required.

Each task produces evidence of its result, and the final token is emitted only after all checks pass, which makes it hard to fake.
