What it does
A Claude Code plugin with 10 skills from Software Mansion for React Native development. After installation the agent gets current instructions on animations, gestures, SVG, on-device AI, rich text, multithreading, audio and the JSI interface. The main skill, `react-native-best-practices`, covers these topics for the React Native New Architecture. The other skills are tied to the team's products: `pulsar-haptics` for haptics, `radon-mcp` for Radon IDE MCP tools, `typegpu` for WebGPU shaders, `rnrepo` for prebuilt library artifacts, `detour` for deferred deep links, `fishjam` for WebRTC, `react-native-moq` and `moq-kit` for streaming and `expo-horizon` for moving Expo apps to Meta Quest.
Who it is for. Mobile developers on React Native and Expo who write animations, gestures and live video or run models on the phone.
Good fit when
- A screen lags and animations have to move to Reanimated 4 at 120 frames per second.
- Text recognition or an LLM is added to the app on the device through ExecuTorch.
- A video call or livestream is built on Fishjam with CallKit and Picture-in-Picture.
- Native library builds take too long and RNRepo is introduced.
- An Expo app is moved to Meta Quest and build flavors are configured.
Not a fit when
- The app is written in Flutter or fully native and does not use React Native.
- The project stays on the old React Native architecture, while the main skill targets the New Architecture.
- General JavaScript advice is wanted that has nothing to do with Software Mansion libraries.
Example request
Rewrite the card animation on Reanimated 4 with a drag gesture and check that it runs at 120 frames per second.Limitations
The author optimized and tested the skills on Claude models in Claude Code, and results in other agents are not guaranteed. The repository states no license. Most skills describe Software Mansion's own libraries, so they help little with third-party solutions. Some skills describe external services, for example Fishjam, a hosted WebRTC platform. The plugin gets updates through `/plugin marketplace update swmansion` and they do not arrive automatically.
How to disable. Disable or remove the `skills@swmansion` plugin through the Claude Code plugin manager. Delete skills installed through `npx skills` from the agent's skills directory.
FAQ
How do I install the Software Mansion skills in Claude Code?
Run `/plugin marketplace add software-mansion-labs/skills`, then `/plugin install skills@swmansion` and `/reload-plugins`. The skills are available at once, and updates come with `/plugin marketplace update swmansion`.
How do I install the skills without the plugin?
With `npx skills add software-mansion-labs/skills`: it uses the `skills` package and suits agents that do not support plugins.
What does react-native-best-practices cover?
Animations (CSS transitions, Reanimated 4, Skia, shaders), gestures, SVG, on-device AI through ExecuTorch, rich text, multithreading on Worklets, audio and JSI with TurboModules.
What is the radon-mcp skill for?
It teaches the agent to use Radon IDE MCP tools: view app screenshots, read logs, inspect the component tree, debug network requests and reload the app.
Does the plugin suit an Expo project?
Yes. The `react-native-best-practices`, `rnrepo` and `fishjam` skills describe Expo CNG builds, and `expo-horizon` guides moving Expo apps to Meta Quest.
