Install

In your terminal, with SkillFoxx CLI

npx skillfoxx add skills/ai-prd-workflow

Detects the agents on your machine, shows the access level and pins the version.

Access and checks

How we review

Extended accessThe tool runs code or makes network calls and only reads external data.

  • The /implement-rfc command writes code in the project and runs its build and tests
  • The install.sh script copies skills into project folders, and running it through curl and bash executes downloaded code

This is third-party code. Review the repository files before installing.

What it does

AI PRD Workflow is a chain of commands for development with an agent, where each step writes a markdown file and the next one reads it. A script checks these files against each other. Claude Code gets it as a plugin, other agents as skills placed into the project. First /create-prd interviews you about the idea in small batches and writes PRD.md, and /document-existing covers code that already exists. /verify-prd finds gaps and contradictions in the requirements. /extract-features breaks requirements into features with permanent IDs and MoSCoW priorities. /generate-rules prepares RULES.md with dependency versions checked, and /generate-rfcs splits the work into small RFCs in dependency order. Next /test-strategy plans tests before they are written. /implement-rfc drafts a plan, waits for your approval, writes the code and runs the build and tests, and /review-rfc checks the result in a fresh context. At any time /workflow-status finds mismatches between documents, and /manage-changes updates them when requirements change. The first skill detects the product type, for example a library or a game, and then applies only fitting checks.

Who it is for. For developers and tech leads who spend weeks building a product with an agent and lose decisions as scope creeps.

Good fit when

  • A project runs for weeks and decisions must survive across sessions, models and teammates in PRD, FEATURES, RULES and RFC files
  • You need to turn a raw idea into a PRD through an interview and then check it for gaps and contradictions before the first line of code
  • An existing project needs a PRD, a feature list and rules written from the code itself with /document-existing
  • Requirements changed mid-project and features and RFCs must be updated while keeping their numbering
  • You want to check whether documents disagree: a feature has no RFC or an RFC cites an outdated version

Not a fit when

  • The job is one edit or a one-line fix: the full cycle with a PRD and RFCs is overkill for it
  • You want a command-line tool with its own controls: there is no CLI or framework here, only skills and files
  • The team already keeps specifications in another system and does not want a second source of truth
  • The agent should decide what to build with no input from you: the chain relies on the interview and your approval of the plan

Example request

/create-prd I have an idea for a link-shortening service with click analytics, ask your questions and build the PRD

Limitations

After installing you must restart the AI tool: a running session does not see new skills, and the first command answers Unknown skill. In the Claude Code plugin commands carry a prefix, for example /prd-workflow:create-prd. In Codex you type a dollar sign instead of a slash: $create-prd.

/implement-rfc runs your project's build and tests, so its result depends on how well they are set up. The check script verifies that documents agree and does not judge code quality. The install.sh installer does not overwrite skills you have edited unless you add `--force`.

How to disable. The Claude Code plugin is disabled and removed through the /plugin command. For other agents delete the skill folders from the project's .claude/skills/ or .agents/skills/. The generated PRD.md, FEATURES.md, RULES.md and RFCs directory can stay as ordinary documentation.

FAQ

How do I install AI PRD Workflow in Claude Code?

Run `/plugin marketplace add nurettincoban/ai-prd-workflow`, then `/plugin install prd-workflow@ai-prd-workflow` and restart Claude Code.

How do I install the skills in Codex, Cursor or Gemini CLI?

Run the installer with the command from the agent instruction. The skills land in .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/, and the `--claude` flag keeps only .claude/skills/ for Claude Code.

How is this different from an agent's plan mode?

Plan mode thinks through one task, and the plan vanishes with the session. Here the project documents stay in the repository, and the commands interview you before work begins and check the files against each other.

Do I need to learn a separate CLI?

No. The project is skills and markdown files, with no CLI and no framework. Commands are called right in chat, and a script checks that documents agree.

How can I check that the workflow finds mistakes?

Install the skills on the example with `./install.sh examples/url-shortener/before` and run /workflow-status. The author compared the report with problems found by hand. In a run with no hints it found 12 of 13 cross-document problems and 10 of 10 PRD problems.

README in short

The README starts with the problem: agents write code well but are worse at deciding what to build and miss mismatches between documents. A quick start, a command table, a comparison with plan mode and six translations follow.

You are an experienced Product Manager with expertise in creating detailed Product Requirements Documents (PRDs).
I have a very informal or vague product idea. Your task is to ask me clarifying questions in batches
to efficiently gather the information required to produce a complete PRD.

## CLASSIFY THE PRODUCT TYPE

Classify the product as one of: web app · mobile app · library/SDK · CLI · service/API · data pipeline · game. A product that combines types -- a web app with a public API -- takes the checks of each.

Then apply only the checks that fit. What each type needs probed, and what usually does not apply:

| Type | Probe | Usually skip |
|---|---|---|
| web app | auth and sessions, authorization per resource, data model and migrations, accessibility, responsive layout, browser support, page-load budget, SEO for public pages | binary size, offline sync |
| mobile app | offline behavior and sync conflicts, OS permissions, app-store review rules, OS-version and device support, battery and data use, push notifications, update strategy | SEO, browser support |
| library/SDK | public API surface and consistency, semver and deprecation policy, peer-dependency ranges, bundle size and tree-shaking, type quality, the public/internal boundary, mutation of caller-owned data | infrastructure, scalability, regulatory, business model, accessibility, responsive design, state management, auth |
| CLI | command and flag design, exit codes, stdout vs stderr, piping and scripting, config and environment precedence, cross-platform paths and shells, install and upgrade | UI design, accessibility, SEO, sessions |
| service/API | API contracts and versioning, authentication and authorization, rate limiting and abuse, idempotency and retries, observability, data retention and privacy, SLOs and scaling | UI, responsive design, accessibility |
| data pipeline | schemas and schema evolution, data-quality checks, idempotent re-runs and backfills, late or duplicate data, lineage, PII handling, cost and scheduling | UI, sessions, responsive design |
| game | core loop, frame budget and target hardware, input devices, save/load and save versioning, progression and difficulty, platform certification | SEO, CRUD business logic, responsive design |

Record the result in PRD.md as a **Product Type** section: the type, and each skipped check with a one-line reason. Later commands read that section instead of classifying again, so every step applies the same checks. Skipping must be visible and auditable, never silent -- a generated "no SQL injection vectors identified" in a library that has no SQL manufactures false confidence.

## PRD Sections to Include

Once you feel you have gathered sufficient details, create a structured PRD that includes (but is not limited to):

- **Overview** - A concise summary of the product, its purpose, and its value proposition
- **Product Type** - The classification and the checks that do not apply, as described above
- **Goals and Objectives** - Clear, measurable goals the product aims to achieve
- **Scope** - What's included and explicitly what's excluded from the initial release
- **User Personas or Target Audience** - Detailed descriptions of the intended users
- **Functional Requirements** - Specific features and capabilities, organized by priority, each with a permanent ID: FR-1, FR-2, ...
- **Non-Functional Requirements** - Performance, security, scalability, and other quality attributes, each with a permanent ID: NFR-1, NFR-2, ... Features and RFCs cite these IDs, so later edits add new numbers and never renumber
- **User Journeys** - Key workflows and interactions from the user's perspective
- **Success Metrics** - How we'll measure if the product is successful
- **Timeline** - High-level implementation schedule with key milestones
