What it does
AI Product Development Toolkit is a repository of ready planning prompts, plus eight skills that run the same prompts by command name in Claude Code or Codex. Each planning skill — `/user-research`, `/prd`, `/ux`, `/mvp-scope`, `/mvp-plan`, `/test-plan` — first asks about the product, its users and goals in small batches, checks its understanding with the person, and drafts the document only once they agree. Later steps read the documents from earlier ones: the PRD builds on the user research, the MVP plan on the PRD and the UX map. The `/nextjs-supabase-vercel` skill sets up a Next.js, Supabase and Vercel app starter in an empty folder: not code, but staged instructions the agent follows locally, with its own local database and stand-in payment and email services instead of live ones. The project's `.claude/settings.json` blocks the agent from `git push`, Supabase login and linking, Vercel deploys and GitHub secret commands, so going to production stays a human step. The `/remotion-video` skill makes a short product video in code with Remotion: it takes material from the current folder or a link, proposes an idea and a storyboard, and waits for approval at both steps before assembling the frames and sound. Installing all the skills is one line that clones the repository into a temporary folder and copies the chosen skill folders into `~/.claude/skills/` or `~/.agents/skills/`, leaving alone any skill the owner has under the same name that this toolkit did not install.
Who it is for. For founders and product managers who plan a new app in Claude Code or Codex and want to go from a user interview to a build plan step by step, without ready-made code.
Good fit when
- There is only a product idea, and you need an interview that turns it into a requirements document
- The PRD is ready and you need a map of screens and user flows before development starts
- You need to pick the smallest first version of the product from a long feature list
- You want a working Next.js and Supabase app set up in an empty folder, with a local database and no access to production
- You want a short product video made in code, with a storyboard to approve before it is built
Not a fit when
- You want a skill that deploys to production itself: the project settings block git push, Supabase login and Vercel deploys, those steps are human steps
- You want to build on anything other than the Next.js, Supabase and Vercel stack: the starter does not support another stack
- The video skill builds sound in code through Python and Remotion: without Node.js and Python installed it will not run
- The author tested the starter in Claude Code desktop up to the first pieces of a web shop; there is no tested run for Codex

Run /prd and interview me about an idea for a freelance expense-tracking appLimitations
License is MIT.
- The Next.js and Supabase starter ships no product code, only staged instructions: Docker is needed for the local database, and the agent never holds hosting keys, not even test ones.
- The remotion-video skill installs the Remotion package itself only after the plan is approved, and needs Node.js and usually Python installed to build the sound in code.
- Reinstalling with the same line replaces an earlier version of the toolkit, but leaves alone a skill with the same name that this toolkit did not install; it skips that one and says so.
- The author states plainly that AI output is a draft: requirements, plans and code should be reviewed, and private data the tool does not need should not go into the prompts.
- Tested coverage is limited to Claude Code desktop up to the first pieces of a web shop and one live site with its hosting set up; Codex and a live production run are not tested yet.
How to disable. Delete the skill's folder from `~/.claude/skills/` or `~/.agents/skills/`. For the Next.js starter, deleting the project folder is enough: it runs only locally and leaves nothing on external services.
FAQ
What's the difference between the skills and the prompts in the planning-prompts folder?
The prompts have to be copied and pasted into any chat by hand. The skills wrap the same prompt as a command like /prd, available in every project once installed, which fills its own placeholders from the user's words.
Can the Next.js starter deploy the site itself?
No, the .claude/settings.json file blocks git push, Supabase login and linking, and Vercel commands outright. The starter gets the project ready to ship; the person runs the actual deploy and push commands.
What happens if I install only one of the eight skills?
Adding its name after 'Install only these skills' in the install line, for example prd, is enough. The install instructions then copy only that skill's folder and the prompt files it needs, leaving the rest untouched.
Does the remotion-video skill need Python?
Yes, it usually builds its sound in code with Python, so the author asks for both Node.js and Python before running it. The Remotion package itself is installed only after the user approves the video's plan.
What happens if I already have my own skill named ux?
The install instructions open its SKILL.md and look for the line 'From the AI Product Development Toolkit'. If that line is missing, it's the owner's own skill: the installer leaves it alone, skips that one and says so.

README in short
The description opens with a table of the repository's four parts — prompts, starter, skills and agent configs — with a short purpose for each. Dedicated sections with step tables and links to detailed guides inside the planning-prompts, starters and agent-skills folders follow. A closing section on Claude Code configurations lists the Opus and Sonnet instruction files based on Anthropic's documentation, plus a link to a form for questions about an unclear step.
