What it does
AI Promo Video Maker starts from one sentence about what to promote: an app, a site or a course, an open-source project or a model. The agent researches the product and asks questions in two rounds about format, audience and style, plus the opening, the music and the screenshot source. Each question comes with a recommended answer and the reason. The agent records the decisions in the 需求确认.md file and waits for your confirmation. Before building, the agent proposes three or four style directions and draws a sample frame for each so you can choose or mix them. It then takes real 4K page screenshots through Playwright and cuts to the music beats. The agent generates the voice-over, transcribes it back sentence by sentence and looks for misreadings. After a frame check the film is built on a Remotion template. A human is needed in three cases: signing in to a site for screenshots, listening to the music and voices, and checking a fact only you know. The output is a 4K MP4 and a web version you can play online. The working rules live in AGENTS.md and the references folder, and the project template in the template folder.
Who it is for. For product makers, student developers and course creators who need a promo video without a studio or an editor.
Good fit when

- The computer has no Node.js, Python or ffmpeg and you do not want to install them: all three are required

You need Node.js 18 or newer, Python 3.9 or newer and ffmpeg. The agent offers to install the other Python packages and the browser engine for screenshots during the environment check; python3 template/scripts/doctor.py checks without installing. Voice-over, music built to the storyboard and sound effects need an ElevenLabs key in ELEVENLABS_API_KEY or in a .env file, and the voice-over text goes to that service. Without a key the agent takes music from the free Mixkit catalogue and uses large captions in place of voice-over.
The author recommends Claude Opus 5.5 or newer: the session is long and a weaker model skips checks. Installed as a skill, the result is saved in the project's 宣传片 folder, which you should add to .gitignore to avoid committing gigabytes. The README and the rules are in Chinese.
How to disable. Remove the skill folder with npx skills remove or by hand from ~/.claude/skills. If you worked in a clone, delete the clone: finished videos sit in outputs/<project name>/. Remove the ElevenLabs key from .env or the environment variable.

How do I install AI Promo Video Maker in Claude Code?
Run npx skills add liyupi/ai-promo-video-maker -g and tell the agent in a project that you need a promo video. Update with npx skills update. The second route is to clone the repository, run pip install -r template/requirements.txt and playwright install chromium, and open the folder in Cursor, Claude Code or Codex.
What does the doctor.py environment check do?
template/scripts/doctor.py only checks the environment and installs nothing. It reports item by item what is missing and which command installs it.
Can I use it without ElevenLabs?
Yes. Without a key the agent takes music from the free Mixkit catalogue, licensed for commercial use, and swaps voice-over for large captions. With a key you get voice-over, music built to the storyboard and sound effects, and the transcription catches misreadings.
How does the agent choose the video style?
It does not use a ready template. For each product it proposes three or four directions and draws a sample frame for each. The author shows how an interview-question platform ended up with a black-and-white manga look and an AI navigation site with an underwater world and a little fish.
Where is the finished video saved?
In a cloned repository it goes to outputs/<project name>/. Installed as a skill, it goes to the 宣传片 folder of the current project, and the agent reminds you to add it to .gitignore because working files take gigabytes. You end up with a 4K MP4 and a web version for online viewing.
