What it does
The skill teaches the agent to run a video in stages: from topic and script through gathering assets and assembly to QC and export. Finishing happens in FFmpeg. The flagship format is the Avatar Explainer with a synthetic presenter: a HeyGen avatar, source screenshots, captions and a call to action at the end. Other recipes produce ads with a fictional creator, product demos from a screen recording and long videos cut into shorts. Seedance 2.5 generates b-roll through fal.ai. The repository holds SKILL.md, playbooks for FFmpeg, Remotion and voiceover copy, plus 17 JSON recipes. Python tools record the screen, make captions with Whisper and check the frame before export. Starter templates for Remotion and HyperFrames are included. Before paid HeyGen, OpenAI and Replicate calls the agent follows the script and pauses to show the plan.
Who it is for. Marketers, founders and content makers who build videos in Cursor or Claude Code and are ready to pay HeyGen, OpenAI and fal.ai for generation.
Good fit when
- You need a news breakdown or tutorial with an avatar, sources and captions in one pass
- You have a product screen recording and want a demo with zoom, click effects and narration
- A long video has to be cut into captioned shorts for social networks
- You need ads with a fictional creator and several hook variants
- You want to build a video in Remotion or HyperFrames and preview the timeline in a browser
Not a fit when
- You need one simple action such as joining two files: a single FFmpeg command is enough
- You have no budget for paid generation: without it there is no avatar and no b-roll
- You need editing in a GUI editor with manual frame-by-frame tuning
Example request
Use the super-video-maker skill: make a 90-second Avatar Explainer about the latest Google Search update and show me the plan before any paid callsLimitations
The skill needs Python, FFmpeg and service keys in a .env file: HeyGen, fal.ai, OpenAI and ElevenLabs, plus Replicate for some recipes. S3 upload works only when AWS keys are present. Remotion and HyperFrames need their own npm dependencies. The OpenAI API is unavailable from Russia. The repository states no license, so ask the author about usage terms. Every paid generation call is billed to your account at the provider.
How to disable. Delete the skill folder from the project, for example .agents/skills/super-video-maker. Remove the .env file with keys and the tmp/video_jobs folder with intermediate results separately.
FAQ
How do I install Super Video Maker in Cursor?
Copy the repository folder to .agents/skills/super-video-maker inside the project, install the dependencies from requirements.txt and FFmpeg, and fill in .env. Then tell the agent: Use the super-video-maker skill, and describe the video.
Which keys does an Avatar Explainer need?
The avatar needs HEYGEN_API_KEY, HEYGEN_AVATAR_ID and HEYGEN_VOICE_ID. Seedance 2.5 b-roll needs FALAI_API_KEY, and image generation needs OPENAI_API_KEY.
Can I skip the avatar?
Yes. The recipes include faceless motion-graphics videos, screen recordings with narration and captions, and long videos cut into shorts.
What does the skill do before paid generation?
The agent first writes the script and shot plan, runs the copy check and only then calls a paid API.
How is Super Video Maker different from video-use?
video-use edits video that is already shot: it cuts pauses and filler words. Super Video Maker builds a video from scratch out of a HeyGen avatar, b-roll, a screen recording and Remotion graphics.

# Super Video Maker
## What this skill does
Turns a video idea, script, product flow, screen recording, avatar brief, or
existing long-form video into polished video assets. The skill can produce:
- **Avatar Explainers** (`avatar-explainer`): proof-driven avatar videos with a synthetic presenter, screen recordings/source receipts, UI micro-stories, captions, and action takeaways,
- **UGC AI Ads** (`ugc-ai-ad`): paid-social ads with a fictional AI creator, reference-image character consistency, Seedance 2.5 clips, ElevenLabs voice consistency, hook variants, captions, and direct-response CTAs,
- **Motion Collage Explainers** (`motion-collage-explainer`): faceless one-idea explainer shorts built from a bold screen-print cutout collage still (`gpt-image-2`) animated into a living collage with Seedance 2.5, narrated in a calm "In a Nutshell" documentary voice (see `MOTION_COLLAGE_STYLE.md`),
- avatar videos with HeyGen,
- AI b-roll with Seedance 2.5 through fal.ai,
- generated or edited images with OpenAI image models,
- screen recordings with cursor/event logs,
- motion graphics in Remotion or HyperFrames,
- captions, subtitles, music, and final FFmpeg exports.
## Read these files when needed
- `VIDEO_COPY_PLAYBOOK.md` for the copy layer of EVERY recipe: the four-line spine (one viewer, one promise, one mechanism, one next step), the two-track rule (voice carries the argument, screen carries the evidence, neither repeats the other), on-screen copy craft (kinetic headlines, data badges, ghost titles, end-card offers, the typographic strike), format-by-format arcs, credibility rules, and the copy gate to run before the first paid generation call. Read it BEFORE writing any script, hook, headline, or CTA, and read its section 11 FIRST: a transcribed reference VO in the owner-approved PLAIN REGISTER (zero figures of speech in 70 seconds) plus a before/after table of copy the owner rejected as "too poetic, too conceptual, AI slop". The pointing test lives there: if the viewer cannot point at the noun you just said, rewrite it. Pairs with the `copywriting-skill` skill, which owns the general voice and rhythm rules.
- `SPOKEN_VO_HUMANIZER.md` for how a spoken line should SOUND (12 rules for short-form scripts + the banned spoken-AI tells list).
- `HOOK_PLAYBOOK_ARTICLE_SPRINT.md` for hook families, the angle-before-copy rule, and loop accounting.
- `recipes/README.md` and `tools/video_recipes.py` for machine-readable video recipes (list, match, plan, validate).
- `REFERENCE.md` for provider capabilities and routing decisions.
- `FFMPEG_PLAYBOOK.md` for exact FFmpeg recipes.
- `WORKFLOW_EXAMPLES.md` for full production examples.
- `REMOTION_VIDEO_GUIDE.md` for Remotion motion-design rules.
- `TABLETOP_EXPLAINER_PLAYBOOK.md` + `workflows/tabletop-levels-explainer/` for building tiered "levels-of-X" explainer reels (fictional presenter + first/last-frame craft b-roll + beat-locked switch-assembly).
- `LIVING_CANVAS_PLAYBOOK.md` + `workflows/living-canvas-explainer/` for boutique-grade single-canvas SaaS launch/explainer videos: element-level pacing on one continuous canvas (0-3 hard cuts), VO-word-locked camera choreography over persistent UI cards, causal physics + layout reflow + transformation chains, story cold-opens with emotional VO and comedy timing, three-band music, and a beat-locked SFX bus. Read it BEFORE any "make it feel like a top motion studio" request — every duration, zoom factor, and spring constant is specified.
- `HYPERREALISTIC_IMAGE_SOP.md` for the 12-part framework that turns a reference image into a photorealistic, non-AI-looking UGC creator prompt. Read it before generating any creator still or hyperrealistic character.
- `MOTION_COLLAGE_STYLE.md` for the `motion-collage-explainer` recipe: how to build a bold screen-print cutout collage still with `gpt-image-2`, animate it into a living collage with Seedance 2.5, and narrate it in a calm "In a Nutshell" documentary explainer voice. Read it before making any faceless collage/idiom/concept explainer short.
- `REVIEW_VIDEO_PLAYBOOK.md` + `commands/review-video.md` for the `review-conquest-compilation` recipe (`/review-video`): a faceless VO montage of REAL, verified competitor reviews targeting the "<competitor> reviews" keyword, that names the recurring complaints, positions **the user's own business** as the alternative, then appends the user's own testimonial reel. Read it before making any competitor-review / comparison / conquest video. The business at the end is a variable — never hardcode a specific company.
## Operating rules
1. **Run a staged pipeline, not random tool calls.** Use: intake -> script/shot list -> assets -> assembly -> FFmpeg finishing -> QC -> exports.
1a. **Copy is a production gate, not a garnish.** Before the first TTS call, clip generation, or timeline build, write the four-line spine from `VIDEO_COPY_PLAYBOOK.md` (one viewer, one promise, one mechanism, one next step), pick the angle, and run its copy checklist. Voice and screen must never carry the same sentence: mute the video and the story should still track, blank the screen and the argument should still land. This ordering is not stylistic. In VO-locked formats the script IS the timeline, so a script change after the build re-locks every frame number.
