How we review

Broad accessThe tool can change data, run commands or handle secrets.

  • The agent executes Python in Blender with user permissions and changes scenes and files.

This is third-party code. Review the repository files before installing.

What it does

Blender Agent Skills adds Blender instructions and scripts to an agent. The core skill checks the environment and routes to modeling, materials, rigging, animation, export or asset validation. Results remain in the scene and project files. An agent can act in an open Blender through a separately configured MCP server or run Blender in the background. Procedures account for version-five API changes and require result checks. Game assets have dedicated optimization and engine-specific export stages.

Who it is for. For 3D artists and developers automating repeatable Blender tasks through an agent.

Good fit when

  • Prepare a game asset with levels of detail.
  • Bake normal maps for materials.
  • Check a scene before export.
  • Process a batch of assets in the background.

Not a fit when

  • You use an older unsupported Blender version.
  • Python execution and scene changes are prohibited.
  • You require asset quality without visual inspection.

Example request

Inspect a copy of this model for bad normals and excess geometry, then propose a Godot export.

Limitations

Blender 5.2 or later is required; older APIs can cause script errors. Working in an open scene needs a separately configured Blender MCP server; otherwise tasks run in background processes. Python can read or change files with user permissions, so use trusted scripts. Rendering and simulation consume memory and time; test settings on a small portion to avoid recalculating the whole scene after each edit.

How to disable. Disable the plugin or remove installed skills. Stop background Blender processes and inspect saved scenes before cleanup.

FAQ

Is an MCP server required?

It supports live scenes, but agents can run Blender in the background without it.

Which game targets are mentioned?

Export workflows cover Roblox, Unity, Unreal, Godot and web.

Are asset checks included?

Yes. blender-asset-qa checks geometry, weights and textures.

Can installation be project-local?

The installer has a `--project DIR` option.

Is Windows installation supported?

The generic installer includes a PowerShell script.
