What it does
The skill turns source material into a deck where each slide is a full 16 by 9 image. It runs in staged phases with approval gates: first an outline and a single visual style chosen from a built-in library, then the image backend, one sample slide for approval and only then the full deck. Final images are assembled into a pptx with the assemble_ppt.py script. In Codex the skill first tries the built-in image generation tool; other agents configure an OpenAI-compatible image API. When subagents are available, slides are generated in parallel and job state is recorded with scripts.
Who it is for. For anyone who needs a visually unified deck from existing text without laying out slides by hand.
Good fit when

- A slide as a whole image is an acceptable format

- Every text box, chart and shape must stay separately editable
- No image generation backend is available

Slides are images, and elements inside them are not editable; the author offers a separate conversion skill for that. It needs python3 and an available image backend: the built-in Codex tool or an OpenAI-compatible image API. The default fallback model is gpt-image-2.5-flare. The official OpenAI API is unavailable from Russia without a VPN, but a compatible endpoint or relay can be used, so availability is marked unknown.
How to disable. Remove the codex-ppt folder from the agent's skills directory, for example ~/.codex/skills/codex-ppt or ~/.claude/skills/codex-ppt, and restart the agent. Keys and the personal style library live in ~/.codex-ppt-skill/ and are removed separately.

# Codex PPT
## Overview
This skill creates image-based PowerPoint decks from source material. Each slide is a complete 16:9 generated image. Final images are assembled into `.pptx` with `scripts/assemble_ppt.py`.
Use this when the user wants a visually unified presentation and accepts full-slide image pages. Do not use it when every textbox, chart, or shape must remain separately editable.
Prefer the built-in image generation/editing tool. Use `scripts/image_gen.py` only when the built-in backend is unavailable, lacks a required capability, or the user explicitly asks for API/CLI mode.FAQ
Can I edit the slides afterwards?
Not directly, the slides are images. The author offers a separate image-to-editable-ppt skill to convert them into an editable format.
Is Codex required?
No. The skill works in any SKILL.md agent, but outside Codex you must configure an OpenAI-compatible image API, since the built-in image tool exists only in Codex.
