Why this level
- The skills write Terraform, Bicep and policy XML that you later apply to a cloud environment, and the application stays with you
- The diagramming skills start the Draw.io and Excalidraw MCP servers from `.vscode/mcp.json`

Access and checks
How we reviewExtended accessThe tool runs code or makes network calls and only reads external data.
- The skills write Terraform, Bicep and policy XML that you later apply to a cloud environment, and the application stays with you
- The diagramming skills start the Draw.io and Excalidraw MCP servers from `.vscode/mcp.json`
This is third-party code. Review the repository files before installing.
What it does
The repository gathers working GitHub Copilot skills and chat agents for cloud engineering on Azure. Skills are grouped by area: architecture design (`architecture-design`, `waf-assessment`, `azure-pricing`), Azure API Management (`apim-policy-authoring`, `api-security-review`, `apiops-deployment`), Terraform (`terraform-module-creator`, `terraform-provider-upgrade`), diagrams through Draw.io and Excalidraw, GitHub Agentic Workflows and authoring skills themselves. Four agents for the Copilot chat picker live in `.github/agents`. Stable skills ship in APM packages: `architect`, `terraform`, `diagramming` and `drawio-mcp-diagramming`. APM installs skills, agents and MCP server settings together. Work-in-progress skills such as `cost-optimization` and `azure-apim-architecture` are available only by cloning the repository. `.vscode/mcp.json` wires up the MCP servers the diagramming skills depend on.
Who it is for. Cloud architects and DevOps engineers on Azure who work in VS Code with GitHub Copilot Chat and want ready skills for architecture, Terraform and APIM.
Good fit when
- An Azure architecture has to be assessed against the five Well-Architected Framework pillars with scored recommendations
- A Terraform provider is being upgraded and you want a safe plan: breaking-change detection, `moved` blocks and validation
- Azure API Management needs policy XML: authentication, rate limiting, CORS, transformations
- An architecture diagram has to appear in Draw.io with Azure icons without placing blocks by hand
Not a fit when
- The work runs on AWS or GCP: the skills are tuned for Azure, although the Draw.io icon libraries include AWS4
- The editor is not VS Code with Copilot: the README describes install and invocation only for that pairing
- You want work-in-progress skills as a package: they are marked as work in progress and install only by cloning
- Project rules forbid running Draw.io and Excalidraw MCP servers, which the diagramming skills rely on
Example request
Use the waf-assessment skill: assess this architecture against the five Azure Well-Architected Framework pillars and score each oneLimitations
- The collection is personal and experimental, and the author calls it a continual experiment. Some skills are marked work in progress and are not in the APM packages.
- It needs VS Code or VS Code Insiders with GitHub Copilot and Copilot Chat. Packages need APM, and individual skills need Node.js and `npx`.
- The diagramming skills depend on Draw.io and Excalidraw MCP servers that you start following the README's MCP section.
- The repository has no license file, so reuse terms are not stated.
How to disable. Installed skills live in `.agents/skills/` (or `.github/skills/` with the `--legacy-skill-paths` flag); delete the folders. Remove the MCP configuration from `.vscode/mcp.json`.
FAQ
How do I install GitHub Copilot Agent Skills?
To pick individual skills run `npx skills add thomast1906/github-copilot-agent-skills`. For packages with agents and MCP settings install APM and run `apm install thomast1906/github-copilot-agent-skills`.
Which APM packages exist?
Four: `packages/architect`, `packages/terraform`, `packages/diagramming` and `packages/drawio-mcp-diagramming`. Installing a package looks like `apm install thomast1906/github-copilot-agent-skills/packages/terraform`.
Where are the unfinished skills?
In the repository: `cost-optimization`, the APIM skills and `gh-aw-operations` are marked as work in progress and are outside the packages. Clone the repository with `git clone` to use them.
Where does APM put the skills?
In `.agents/skills/` by default. If you need per-client folders such as `.github/skills/`, add the `--legacy-skill-paths` flag.
Do the skills work outside Copilot?
The `SKILL.md` format is shared and the repository is indexed on skills.sh, but the README describes install and invocation only for VS Code with GitHub Copilot Chat.

README in short
The README opens with a description of the collection and a link to the skills.sh index. Then come requirements, three install paths (skills CLI, APM, cloning), tables of skills by area with the APM package named, a list of agents and a section on MCP servers. Each skill has a table row with a description and a note on whether it is finished.

Reliability Ability of the system to recover from failures and continue functioning. - **Focus**: Availability, resiliency, disaster recovery, health monitoring ### 2. Security Protecting applications and data from threats. - **Focus**: Identity, network security, encryption, secrets management ### 3. Cost Optimization Managing costs to maximize value delivered. - **Focus**: Right-sizing, reserved instances, monitoring, waste elimination ### 4. Operational Excellence Operations processes that keep a system running in production. - **Focus**: IaC, CI/CD, monitoring, incident response, automation ### 5. Performance Efficiency Ability of a system to adapt to changes in load. - **Focus**: Scaling, caching, CDN, resource selection, optimization ## Assessment Process
