What it does
hermes-telegram-checklist lets Hermes Agent work with native Telegram checklists: create, read, append items and toggle them, and in chats and forum topics these are interactive lists with a completion counter. The skill is written as a single file `telethon_checklist.py` and works through a Telegram user session (Telethon, MTProto) and not the Bot API: per the README the Bot API handles checklists only on behalf of a connected business account. Installation: `pip install "telethon>=1.44"`, then `api_id` and `api_hash` from my.telegram.org in the `TELETHON_API_ID` and `TELETHON_API_HASH` variables, one interactive sign-in. Each write is re-read from the server and confirmed in the `verified` field. Version 1.1.1 from 25.09.2026, MIT license.
Who it is for. For Hermes Agent users who keep tasks in Telegram and want the agent to create and tick real checklists and not text with asterisks.
Good fit when
- You need native Telegram checklists from an agent
- You need to tick items and see a completion counter
- You need work in chats and forum topics
Not a fit when
- You cannot give an agent a Telegram user session
- You need the official Bot API path: it works only for a business account
Example request
Create a Release checklist of five items in Saved Messages and tick the first two as done, then show the verified confirmationLimitations
The Telegram session file is a key to your account, so keep it like a password and do not publish it. Automating a user account falls under Telegram rules and creating a checklist needs Telegram Premium (reading and toggling items works without it); the terms are set by Telegram. Limit work with the list of allowed chats through `TELETHON_CHECKLIST_CHATS`: it applies to every command. The README states that the skill does not send arbitrary messages, delete or collect conversations in the background.
How to disable. Remove the skill from the agent's folder or the plugin through the plugin manager.
FAQ
What does the skill do?
It creates, reads and updates native Telegram checklists from Hermes Agent.
Why not the Bot API?
Per the README the Bot API handles checklists only on behalf of a connected business account so the skill goes through a user session.
Is Premium needed?
Creating a checklist needs Telegram Premium on the account; reading and toggling items works without it (per the README).
