What it does
McPair (麦麦配) is a skill that picks a McDonald's China order for a budget, calorie cap, exclusions and group size. Through the `mcp.mcd.cn` MCP server it takes the store menu, nutrition table, coupons and order history. The `scripts/pair.py` script then enumerates combinations, prunes the impossible ones and returns three options: frugal, balanced and indulgent. Deterministic code computes prices, calories and coupons; the model does not take part in the arithmetic and only interprets the request and words the answer. Explanations come with the result: why other options were dropped, what changes with a bigger budget, which coupons do not work now. For a group the skill splits the order by the max-min rule. It does not place the order.
Who it is for. People ordering from McDonald's China who want a ready calculation for a budget, calories or a debate over what to get for four.
Good fit when
- Lunch within 40 yuan, nothing spicy, and one clear option is wanted instead of ten.
- Calories are capped at 600 kcal and protein must not fall below a set threshold.
- Six coupons are on hand and it is unclear which pays off and when it becomes valid.
- Four people share a 100-yuan order and concessions must be shared evenly.
Not a fit when
- Order placement, payment and delivery are needed: the skill only recommends and creates no order.
- There is no McDonald's China MCP token: without it only a demo on saved data works.
- A group larger than six is ordering: enumeration grows too wide and the skill advises splitting the order.
Example request
Pick a McDonald's lunch under 40 yuan without spicy items, show three options and explain why the others were dropped.Limitations
The skill works with McDonald's China and needs an MCP token from `mcp.mcd.cn`; the documentation and replies are in Chinese. Without a token only the `python scripts/pair.py --demo` demonstration on data captured on 17 October 2026 works. README installation targets WorkBuddy; for other agents the folder is copied into the skills directory by hand. No licence is stated in the repository. Prices and coupons depend on the store menu and time.
How to disable. Delete the `mcd-meal-pairing` folder from the skills directory and the `mcd-mcp` connector from the agent settings. The token can be revoked in the McDonald's MCP console.
FAQ
Can I try it without a token?
Yes. `python scripts/pair.py --demo` computes on saved data and needs no token or dependencies. The preview page has three ready scenarios.
Does the model compute the price itself?
No. The script computes prices, calories and coupons; the answer is built only from its output, and if the script fails the agent must show the error instead of estimating.
Does the skill place the order?
No. It hands back a dish list and the total, and the order must be confirmed and paid in the official channel.
How do coupons work?
The skill checks each coupon by date, time and channel, computes the best discount and names the nearest moment an unavailable coupon becomes valid.
Which questions does the skill handle?
Seven: budget picks, coupons and when they apply, calorie caps, exclusions such as spicy food, the effect of extra yuan, taste from order history and group order splitting.
