reelbench-skills
Video skills for Claude Code and Codex: break a clip into a shot-by-shot analysis and render video with a storyboard overlay
Medium risk
We rate an entry medium when the tool runs code, makes network calls or reads project files. Check what exactly it does before installing.
Why this level
- Runs ffmpeg and local scripts over video files
- Writes reports and frames to disk
Install
In your terminal, with SkillFoxx CLI
npx skillfoxx add skills/reelbench-skillsDetects the agents on your machine, checks the risk and pins the version.
Other ways to install
Assembled automatically, review before installing.

Install the skills: git clone https://github.com/eternityspring/reelbench-skills.git, then ./scripts/install.sh. Node 18+ and ffmpeg are required.
Other ways from the author
git clone https://github.com/eternityspring/reelbench-skills.git
cd reelbench-skills
./scripts/install.shSymlinks into ~/.claude/skills and ~/.codex/skills. Needs node 18+ and ffmpeg. Flags --claude, --codex, a skill name or --uninstall.
This is third-party code. Review the repository files before installing.
What it does
reelbench-skills is a pair of skills for dissecting and assembling video through an AI agent. The video-shots skill breaks a finished clip into a per-shot table: duration, shot size, category, camera motion, content and pace, with ffmpeg measuring cut points and length while the model decides only what it should. The video-sync skill renders video where shot information runs beside the picture, the table scrolls and highlights the current shot. The report is a self-contained interactive page with a built-in player, and it needs no npm dependencies or keys.
Who it is for. For editors, video creators and designers who study clips shot by shot.
Good fit when
- You need to break a clip into shots with duration and shot type
- You need an interactive per-shot report with a built-in player
- You need to render video with a storyboard overlay
Not a fit when
- You do not have ffmpeg and Node.js installed
- You need video generation rather than analysis and assembly
Example request
Break this clip into shots and build an interactive report with a table of shot sizes and paceLimitations
It needs Node.js 18 or later and ffmpeg with ffprobe. The skills run against the current agent session's quota, with no external API. The main README is in Chinese, with an English README.en.md.
How to disable. Run ./scripts/install.sh --uninstall to remove the symlinks, or delete the skill folders from the agent's directory.
Security check
- Runs ffmpeg and local scripts over video files
- Writes reports and frames to disk
README in short
The README describes reelbench-skills as video skills for Claude Code and Codex. video-shots breaks a clip into a per-shot table where ffmpeg measures cuts and duration and the model judges shot size, category, motion and pace, with 15 quality checks. video-sync renders video with a side storyboard panel that scrolls and highlights the current shot, its layout changed in one CSS file. Install is via git clone and install.sh with symlinks into skill directories, and the only dependencies are node 18+ and ffmpeg, no npm or keys. Demo reports on real clips are included.
FAQ
Are API keys needed?
No. The skills run with no external API and no npm dependencies, only node and ffmpeg, against the session quota.
Can I install one skill?
Yes. ./scripts/install.sh video-shots installs just that one; the skills are self-contained and you can also copy the folder.
