What it does
A set with one entry point and six specialist modules for Codex: `research-starter-paper`, `rsk-research-design`, `rsk-literature`, `rsk-paper-writing`, `rsk-experiments-figures`, `rsk-rebuttal` and `rsk-research-workflow`. They lead from an idea to a question for a supervisor meeting, then to literature search and critical reading, paper structure, figure preparation and reviewer replies. `rsk-research-workflow` builds an editable PPTX with native charts and tables, writes a speaking script per slide and drills defense questions. Progress is stored in files in a chosen directory, and a new conversation starts by checking them. The method draws on 19 teaching materials of the Research-Starter-Kit project.
Who it is for. Graduate students without research training who must turn a supervisor's topic into a question, a literature review and a paper text.
Good fit when
- A supervisor named a direction and a question card plus a step plan are due for the next meeting.
- Several papers are read but no position of one's own forms.
- Reviewer comments arrived and the reply is built point by point from the data.
- An eight-minute talk is being prepared: slides, a script per page and a question rehearsal.
Not a fit when
- A text that is guaranteed to pass AI detectors is required; the set promises none.
- The work runs in another agent, not Codex.
- A single paragraph edit is enough with no project tracking.

The skills target Codex and are installed by a script into `$CODEX_HOME/skills`, `~/.codex/skills` by default. Installation needs Python 3.10 or newer, and charts, presentations and speech may need extra dependencies. The main `SKILL.md` and README texts are Chinese, with an English README available. No license is declared in the repository. The set does not promise to pass AI detectors, and the sample presentations use synthetic data.
How to disable. Delete the seven skill folders from `$CODEX_HOME/skills`. Remove the progress files in the project working directory separately.
FAQ
How do I install the skills?
Download the release archive, unpack it and run `python scripts/install_skills.py`. All seven folders go to `$CODEX_HOME/skills`.
How do I update an installed set?
First `python scripts/install_skills.py --check`, then `python scripts/install_skills.py --update --backup-dir <directory>` with a separate backup folder.
Where do I start without a plan?
Call `$research-starter-paper` and name the direction in one phrase. Files are optional.
Does the set edit text by itself?
Not when the request is a check only: it returns findings and suggestions and leaves the text unchanged.
How many modules does the set have?
Seven folders: the `research-starter-paper` entry point and six modules prefixed `rsk-`. One run of the install script places all of them.
