How we review

Minimal accessThe tool runs nothing and makes no network calls.

  • The skill prepares text prompts and script files; the actual image and video generation runs through an external service connected separately by the user.

This is third-party code. Review the repository files before installing.

What it does

The skill guides an agent (Claude Code, Codex or another harness) through the full cycle of turning a story into a multi-episode video: a four-act script, a numbered materials list (characters, locations, props) for image generation, and Seedance 2.0 timeline prompts describing each shot in 3-second blocks. Episodes connect through a video-extension feature: the previous episode is supplied as a reference with an instruction to extend it by a given number of seconds, so the transition between episodes needs no separate cut. Each episode keeps its final frame to continue into the next one.

Who it is for. Short-series and storytelling creators turning a story into a Seedance 2.0 video series without manually assembling the script.

Good fit when

  • A story turns into a four-act script plus a list of visual materials.
  • A video series needs Seedance 2.0 timeline prompts describing each 3-second block.
  • Multiple episodes connect through the video-extension feature, without manual splicing.
  • Materials (characters, locations, props) get one numbering system for reuse.

Not a fit when

  • Image and video generation is needed without access to Seedance 2.0 or a similar prompt-driven generator.
  • A single standalone clip with no series structure: the skill is built around linking episodes via video extension.
  • Comfort with Chinese-only documentation and examples matters, since the core material is in Chinese.

Example request

Use the Seedance skill to make a short video series out of the story "Mencius's mother moved three times".

Limitations

The skill only prepares the script, materials list and text prompts: images and video are generated by an external service such as Seedance 2.0 or a similar tool, which needs its own access and may be paid. The repository's documentation and example projects are in Chinese. Linking episodes through video extension depends on that specific generator feature and its own duration limits. Materials numbering (the C, S, P prefixes) is built for a range of 01 to 99 per type; a project with more characters, locations or props than that needs the scheme extended by hand.

How to disable. Remove the `.claude/skills/seedance-storyboard-generator` folder from the project, or delete the cloned repository entirely.

FAQ

How are episodes linked together?

From the second episode onward, the previous video is supplied as a reference with an instruction to extend it by a set number of seconds, giving a seamless transition without a separate cut.

How are materials numbered?

Characters get the prefix C, locations and scenes get S, props get P, each ranging from 01 to 99.

Is a paid Seedance subscription required?

The skill does not connect to Seedance itself; access to the image and video generation service is set up separately by the user.

How do I number materials in a large project?

The C (characters), S (locations) and P (props) prefixes are built for 01-99 each; past that range the numbering scheme is extended by hand.

What language is the skill's documentation in?

The core documentation and example projects in the repository are Chinese-only; the agent translates the relevant parts as it works.
