What it does
Uncodixfy is a rule set for interface generation. The author noticed that GPT and Codex repeat the same UI moves over and over: floating cards, oversized rounded corners, gradient panels, decorative labels and frosted shells. The skill lists these moves as banned and steers the model toward a plain interface in the spirit of Linear, Raycast, Stripe and GitHub. The rules are concrete. A fixed 240–260 px sidebar with a plain border, buttons with a radius of at most 8–10 px and no pills, cards with an 8–12 px radius, shadows no softer than 0 2px 8px rgba(0,0,0,0.1), transitions of 100–200 ms with no bouncy effects. The Hard No section bans large radii, glows and blurred glass, gradients used to fake taste, metric cards as a first move and a hero block inside an internal interface without a reason. The skill only trims the excess. A landing page keeps the sections it needs, and a dashboard gets its own grid without invented layouts.
Who it is for. For developers and designers who ask an agent to build a dashboard or landing page and are tired of the same look in generated interfaces.
Good fit when
- An agent built a dashboard with floating cards and gradients and you want a calm working look
- A project needs a layout with a 240–260 px sidebar, plain buttons and undecorated tables
- Frontend code in HTML, CSS, React, Vue or Svelte should be generated right away without the model's signature moves
- You want sizing guidance: radii of 8–12 px, shadows, spacing on a 4, 8, 12, 16, 24, 32 px scale
- A design should move toward Linear, Raycast, Stripe or GitHub without copying them
Not a fit when
- You need an expressive marketing site with big graphics, animation and an authored voice: the rules suppress such moves
- You need a ready design system with palettes and font pairs: the skill picks no colors or typefaces and only forbids excess
- The product already uses Inter, Roboto, Arial or Segoe UI: the rules ban these fonts only where the product does not use them
- You need print or mobile app layouts: the rules describe a web interface
Example request

The skill is written for GPT and Codex, but works with agents that read the SKILL.md format, including Claude Code. The rules only constrain and the design stays with you: the result depends on what you asked to build.
The project description calls the file uncodixify.md, while in the repository it is Uncodixfy.md. SKILL.md tells the agent to list its usual moves in its own reasoning before working and to do nothing from that list. The author publishes no quality measurements, and two before-and-after image pairs show the effect.
How to disable. Remove the skill from the agent's skills folder, for example with npx skills remove uncodixfy, or take Uncodixfy.md out of the system instructions.
FAQ
How do I install Uncodixfy in Claude Code or Codex?
Run npx skills add cyxzdev/Uncodixfy, and bunx works in place of npx. After installing, call the skill with /uncodixfy. You can also skip the skill and paste Uncodixfy.md into your prompt or system instructions.
What does the skill forbid in an interface?
Large rounded corners, pills on buttons and badges, floating panels and frosted shells, soft corporate gradients, glows and blur as decoration, a hero block inside an internal interface, metric cards as a first thought and fake charts that fill space.
Which sizes does the skill consider normal?
A 240–260 px sidebar, a container 1200–1400 px wide, button radii of 8–10 px, card radii of 8–12 px, body text of 14–16 px, icons of 16–20 px, a spacing scale of 4, 8, 12, 16, 24, 32 px and transitions of 100–200 ms.
Why does the skill ban Inter and Roboto?
It treats safe default font stacks as a sign of template generation. The ban list includes Segoe UI, Trebuchet MS, Arial, Inter and Roboto, unless the product already uses them.
Does the skill suit a landing page?
Yes, without invented layouts. For a landing page the skill keeps the sections it needs, such as a hero, and a dashboard gets a full set of sections with a sidebar. It asks to replicate components made by designers instead of inventing your own.

README in short
The project description starts with a complaint that GPT designs interfaces poorly and repeats the same moves. It then explains that the rules file blocks those moves and steers the model toward ordinary interfaces rather than teaching design. Two pairs of images show a typical GPT interface and the result after the rules, followed by installation through the skills CLI and the /uncodixfy call.

--- name: uncodixfy description: Prevents generic AI/Codex UI patterns when generating frontend code. Use this skill whenever generating HTML, CSS, React, Vue, Svelte, or any frontend UI code to enforce clean, human-designed aesthetics inspired by Linear, Raycast, Stripe, and GitHub instead of typical AI-generated UI. --- # Uncodixify This document exists to teach you how to act as non-Codex as possible when building UI. Codex UI is the default AI aesthetic: soft gradients, floating panels, eyebrow labels, decorative copy, hero sections in dashboards, oversized rounded corners, transform animations, dramatic shadows, and layouts that try too hard to look premium. It's the visual language that screams "an AI made this" because it follows the path of least resistance. This file is your guide to break that pattern. Everything listed below is what Codex UI does by default. Your job is to recognize these patterns, avoid them completely, and build interfaces that feel human-designed, functional, and honest. When you read this document, you're learning what NOT to do. The banned patterns are your red flags. The normal implementations are your blueprint. Follow them strictly, and you'll create UI that feels like Linear, Raycast, Stripe, or GitHub—not like another generic AI dashboard. This is how you Uncodixify. ## Keep It Normal (Uncodexy-UI Standard) - Sidebars: normal (240-260px fixed width, solid background, simple border-right, no floating shells, no rounded outer corners) - Headers: normal (simple text, no eyebrows, no uppercase labels, no gradient text, just h1/h2 with proper hierarchy) - Sections: normal (standard padding 20-30px, no hero blocks inside dashboards, no decorative copy) - Navigation: normal (simple links, subtle hover states, no transform animations, no badges unless functional) - Buttons: normal (solid fills or simple borders, 8-10px radius max, no pill shapes, no gradient backgrounds) - Cards: normal (simple containers, 8-12px radius max, subtle borders, no shadows over 8px blur, no floating effect) - Forms: normal (standard inputs, clear labels above fields, no fancy floating labels, simple focus states) - Inputs: normal (solid borders, simple focus ring, no animated underlines, no morphing shapes) - Modals: normal (centered overlay, simple backdrop, no slide-in animations, straightforward close button) - Dropdowns: normal (simple list, subtle shadow, no fancy animations, clear selected state) - Tables: normal (clean rows, simple borders, subtle hover, no zebra stripes unless needed, left-aligned text) - Lists: normal (simple items, consistent spacing, no decorative bullets, clear hierarchy) - Tabs: normal (simple underline or border indicator, no pill backgrounds, no sliding animations) - Badges: normal (small text, simple border or background, 6-8px radius, no glows, only when needed) - Avatars: normal (simple circle or rounded square, no decorative borders, no status rings unless functional) - Icons: normal (simple shapes, consistent size 16-20px, no decorative icon backgrounds, monochrome or subtle color) - Typography: normal (system fonts or simple sans-serif, clear hierarchy, no mixed serif/sans combos, readable sizes 14-16px body) - Spacing: normal (consistent scale 4/8/12/16/24/32px, no random gaps, no excessive padding) - Borders: normal (1px solid, subtle colors, no thick decorative borders, no gradient borders) - Shadows: normal (subtle 0 2px 8px rgba(0,0,0,0.1) max, no dramatic drop shadows, no colored shadows) - Transitions: normal (100-200ms ease, no bouncy animations, no transform effects, simple opacity/color changes) - Layouts: normal (standard grid/flex, no creative asymmetry, predictable structure, clear content hierarchy) - Grids: normal (consistent columns, standard gaps, no creative overlaps, responsive breakpoints) - Flexbox: normal (simple alignment, standard gaps, no creative justify tricks) - Containers: normal (max-width 1200-1400px, centered, standard padding, no creative widths) - Wrappers: normal (simple containing divs, no decorative purposes, functional only) - Panels: normal (simple background differentiation, subtle borders, no floating detached panels, no glass effects)
