What it does

App Store Connect CLI provides terminal commands for managing Apple apps. asc lists applications, inspects builds and prepares TestFlight distribution, with readiness checks and review submission workflows. It also manages localization, screenshots and signing resources. Agents can consume JSON and prepare an action plan for owner review. Agent guidance is distributed separately as a skills collection.

Who it is for. iOS and macOS release teams automating App Store Connect preparation and checks.

Good fit when

  • A review submission needs version readiness and build checks.
  • Testers need a prepared TestFlight distribution.
  • Screenshots and localizations should be handled through repeatable scripts.
  • CI needs structured app and signing results.

Not a fit when

  • The user lacks access to the app and Apple API keys.
  • An agent would publish or alter commercial settings without approval.
  • You only need local compilation without Apple-account operations.

Example request

Check this version’s App Review readiness and list blockers. Do not submit builds or change metadata.

Limitations

An App Store Connect API key with the appropriate role is required; individual keys do not use an issuer ID. CI and hosts without keychain access use a separate configuration-backed credential mode that needs protection. Releases built with Go 1.27 require macOS 13 or newer, so older Macs need a compatible release. Pseudonymous command telemetry is enabled by default and has dedicated status and disable controls.

How to disable. Stop asc workflows, remove unused auth profiles and revoke the Apple key when no longer needed. Uninstalling does not undo submitted builds.

FAQ

How do I check installation without keys?

Run `asc version` and `asc --help` before configuring credentials.

How do I validate a profile?

Run `asc auth status --validate` and `asc auth doctor` before making changes.

What does piped output contain?

JSON by default. Specify `--output json` explicitly in scripts.

Can I disable telemetry?

Yes. Run `asc telemetry disable`, then inspect `asc telemetry status`.

Is Go required?

Not for release binaries. Source builds use the toolchain version specified by the project.
