Access and checks
How we reviewExtended accessThe tool runs code or makes network calls and only reads external data.
- The generator writes project files and adds dependencies; external services use your credentials.
This is third-party code. Review the repository files before installing.
What it does
Better-T-Stack asks which frontend, backend, API layer, runtime and database the application should use. It generates a project from those selections. Choices include Next.js, Nuxt, Svelte, Hono, Fastify, Bun and Node.js. Optional choices cover a database ORM, authentication and monorepo tools. A Claude Code plugin plans a valid stack and invokes its bundled MCP server to generate the project. The CLI also runs independently of the plugin.
Who it is for. Full-stack developers starting TypeScript applications with deliberate infrastructure and dependency choices.
Good fit when
- A team starts a web application and selects Next.js, Hono and PostgreSQL in one wizard.
- Developers agree on tools before generating files for a new monorepo.
- A Claude Code user describes an application stack and generates the project through the plugin.
- An author selects components in the browser and copies the generated command into a terminal.
Not a fit when
- An existing application needs automatic migration to another framework.
- Your organization permits only predetermined dependency versions.
- The required combination is unavailable in the generator.
Example request
Create a Next.js, Hono, PostgreSQL and Better Auth project with Better-T-Stack. Show the stack choices before generation.Limitations
The generator selects current stable dependencies by default, so running it later can produce different versions. The wizard accepts only supported combinations of frameworks, databases and ORMs. External database, authentication and deployment services need their own accounts and configuration. The bundled commands and MCP plugin target Claude Code; invoking the CLI in a terminal does not install that plugin into other agents.
How to disable. Exit the generator and remove its Claude Code plugin if installed. The generated project and dependencies remain in the selected folder.
FAQ
How do I start the project wizard?
Run `bun create better-t-stack@latest`. pnpm and npm alternatives appear in the [Quick Start](https://github.com/AmanVarshney01/create-better-t-stack#quick-start).
How do I install the Claude Code plugin?
Run `/plugin marketplace add AmanVarshney01/create-better-t-stack`, then `/plugin install better-t-stack@better-t-stack`. Use `/better-t-stack:new <description>` to describe the project.
Can I choose the stack in a browser?
Yes. Open [Stack Builder](https://better-t-stack.dev/new), select components and use its generated command.
Can I omit a separate backend?
Yes. Backend choices include Self for a full-stack web app and none for no backend. Select this in the wizard before choosing database and API options.
Which database access tools can I select?
Options include Drizzle, Prisma, Mongoose or no ORM, the code layer for database access. Choose the database and a compatible option first.
