What it does
Bm.md CLI exposes the bm.md project’s Markdown processing in a terminal. It accepts files or standard input, renders HTML for a selected platform and extracts plain text. A WeChat target formats articles for publication. Markup checking can fix the source file in place. This supports scripted preparation or a focused document operation by an agent. The project’s web editor offers additional export features; CLI work should follow the commands exposed by its own interface.
Who it is for. For writers and developers preparing Markdown for publication through scripts or a terminal.
Good fit when
- Render an article as WeChat HTML.
- Extract plain text from Markdown.
- Fix markup before publication.
- Add text processing to an existing pipeline.
Not a fit when
- You need a general graphical editor in a terminal.
- You expect every web export feature in each CLI command.
- The source document cannot be overwritten by fixes.
Example request
Convert a copy of this article into WeChat HTML and show the result before publication.Limitations
The published CLI needs Node.js 20 or later; the project recommends Node.js 24, so choose a maintained runtime for a new installation. The `bmmd lint` command with `--fix` overwrites the source, so keep a copy or inspect the Git diff. HTML appearance depends on the publishing platform; review it after pasting into the target editor. PDF and image export are primarily documented for the web interface; check actual CLI commands before relying on those features.
How to disable. Remove the global bmmd package with pnpm. Generated HTML and Markdown edits remain in their directories.
FAQ

How do I save HTML?

Does the CLI need the web development server?
The standalone package installs separately from the web application development environment.
