What it does
dbxcli lets an agent upload a report to Dropbox, download an authorized folder or create a link to a finished file. Users select paths and conflict behavior: overwrite, skip, rename or fail. JSON output and JSON help support automation. The CLI also handles revisions and shared-link revocation. Team accounts can expose administration and member-scoped operations. The repository includes a Claude Code plugin and a separate Codex skill.
Who it is for. Team file coordinators delegating report delivery and link access management to an agent.
Good fit when
- A finished report must reach an agreed Dropbox folder.
- Before a repeat upload, the user wants matching names to cause an error rather than an overwrite.
- After a project ends, its document link needs revocation.
- For automation, a script needs a JSON file listing with structured errors.
Not a fit when
- You need continuous desktop-folder synchronization.
- The agent is not authorized to manage the selected team files.
- The recipient must not receive shared-link access.

The CLI covers a subset of the Dropbox API, so a web-interface feature does not imply a matching command exists here. Team accounts may have a non-writable root; select an accessible personal or team folder first. Dropbox engineers maintain the project on GitHub, but regular Dropbox Support does not support this CLI. Saved credentials and team tokens determine file and member access, so use a separate working identity with the required permissions.
How to disable. Stop dbxcli jobs and disable the agent skill or plugin. Revoke its Dropbox authorization and revoke published links separately.

How do I start by viewing files?
After signing in, run `dbxcli ls /` and inspect the folders.
Why can an upload to the root fail?
Team accounts may have a non-writable root. Choose a writable folder from the listing.
Can I prevent an overwrite?
Yes. Choose `--if-exists fail` for the upload.
What does shared-link creation print?
Text mode prints the link URL for the recipient.
Where can an agent discover commands?
The `dbxcli --help --output=json` manifest lists commands and parameters.
