What it does
getnote is a command-line client for the Chinese note service Get笔记 (Dedao Brain). `getnote save` stores a link, text or image and for links waits while the service parses the page. Notes are then browsed with `getnote notes` and `getnote note <id>`, searched semantically with `getnote search`, sorted into knowledge bases and tags and shared by link. Every command accepts `-o json`, so an agent reads a structured reply. The `skills/` folder holds five atomic skills (authorization, notes, knowledge bases, search, tags). `getnote setup` installs them into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Gemini CLI and other clients and walks through authorization, while `getnote doctor` checks that everything works.
Who it is for. Get笔记 (Dedao Brain) users who want to search their notes and save finds straight from a chat with Claude Code or Codex.
Good fit when
- An agent found an article and it must be saved to notes with a tag right away.
- You need to find what you read about RAG in your notes and get links to the right entries.
- Dedao books and courses are worked through by quotes: `getnote kbs --scope BOOKSPACE` lists the shelf and its notes.
- All notes are exported to JSON for an archive or script processing.
- A meeting recording transcript is read with `getnote note transcript`, which returns the original with no AI summary.
Not a fit when
- Notes live in another service: the CLI works only with Get笔记.
- There is no Get笔记 membership: OpenAPI, including the CLI and skills, is open only to members, otherwise commands reply `OpenAPI 仅对会员开放`.
- The agent must not be trusted to change notes: `note delete` and `note update` modify data and the README mentions no read-only mode.

The Get笔记 OpenAPI, and with it the CLI and skills, is open only to paid members. Documentation, errors and command texts are in Chinese. The npm install needs Node.js, and with pnpm 10 and newer the `@getnote/cli` install script must be allowed in `pnpm-workspace.yaml` through `allowBuilds`. The package carries binaries for six platforms, so it weighs about 22 MB compressed. Semantic search returns top results, and an empty reply does not prove there are no notes. Some course commands in the README are marked as branch features that depend on the server.
How to disable. Sign out with `getnote auth logout` and remove the package with `npm uninstall -g @getnote/cli`. Delete the five skill folders from the agent skills directory and revoke the API key in Get笔记 settings.
FAQ
How do I install getnote for Claude Code?
Run `npm install -g @getnote/cli@latest && getnote setup`. The command installs the CLI and five skills and then walks through authorization. If the CLI is already installed, add the skills with `npx skills add iswalle/getnote-cli -y -g`.
Is a paid subscription required?
Yes. OpenAPI is open only to Get笔记 (Dedao Brain) members. Without membership commands reply `OpenAPI 仅对会员开放`.
How do I check that the install worked?
Run `getnote doctor -o json`. A reply with `ready=true` and `status=ready` means everything works. The `next_actions` field suggests fixes.
How does getnote differ from gnote?
It does not. After installation `getnote` and the short `gnote` are interchangeable, for example `gnote notes`.
How do I export all notes?
Run `getnote notes --all -o json > all-notes.json`. The command pages through everything and saves the notes into a single JSON file.
