Why this level
- Agents run autonomously for hours and execute code and commands in your folder without step-by-step approval.
- A run consumes the quota of the chosen agent and model providers.
Install
- Works in
In your terminal, with SkillFoxx CLI
npx skillfoxx add cli/godotmakerDetects the agents on your machine, shows the access level and pins the version.

What it does
The `godotmaker-cli` command-line tool drives the whole chain from an idea and a GDD document to a Godot game that agents build in your folder. Agents split the GDD into tasks, scenes and acceptance criteria, implement gameplay, write gdUnit4 unit tests and end-to-end tests, run the game, capture screenshots, compare with the GDD and feed problems back into a fix loop. The runtime is chosen with a flag: `--agent claude-code`, `codex`, `opencode` or `pi`. The output is a regular Godot project with sources, scenes, assets, tests and reports. A small prototype takes about 5-8 hours of agent runtime.
Who it is for. Indie developers and small teams who need to validate a game idea on a playable prototype before investing in development.
Good fit when
- There is a game idea but no working prototype.
- Several concepts must be compared through playable versions.
- A Godot project with tests is needed, not a closed platform build.
- A prototype exists and the GDD is refined for another iteration.
Not a fit when
- The game is 3D; the current framework targets 2D.
- Pixel art or audio generation is needed; neither is supported yet.
- The agent token budget is limited and a run lasts hours.
Example request
Build a vertical bullet-hell shooter prototype from my description, work from the GDD and show screenshots from each stage.Limitations
2D only, and the art pipeline is alpha, so wrong atlas regions and missing animations are possible. Levels and balance stay draft. Godot 4.5 or newer, Node 22, Python 3.10, Git 2.30 and a command-line agent are required. The license is BUSL 1.1 converting to Apache 2.0 after four years; games built with it belong to you. Long runs consume the quota of the chosen agent. Review the result by eye: the README itself names possible sprite and animation wiring errors.
How to disable. Remove the global `godotmaker-cli` package and the `.godotmaker/` folder in the project if run state is no longer needed. The Godot project itself stays yours.
FAQ
Which agents can I choose?
Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode or Pi with `--agent`. Resolution order: the flag, the project `.godotmaker/config.yaml`, then global `~/.godotmaker/cli/config.yaml`.
How long does a prototype take?
A small prototype takes about 5-8 hours of agent runtime.
Who owns the result?
The games belong to you, subject to third-party engine, model and dependency terms.
What if a run fails?
Stop the run and execute `godotmaker-cli` again; work resumes from local project state.
Is 3D supported?
No, the current framework targets 2D games.
