What it does
gtrk gives a coding agent commands for video editing. You provide source footage and describe the task; bundled skills help the agent choose processing steps. The `oralcut` command rough-cuts talking-head footage by finding repeated takes and long pauses. The CLI saves the result as a project with an editable timeline. You can refine it in the gtrk client or export to formats such as Premiere XML or FCPXML. The CLI also supports local rendering through FFmpeg. Other skills help prepare voiceovers and subtitles. Long recordings can be turned into shorter clips. The cloud service analyzes submitted material. The agent returns the project and a report marking edits to check during playback.
Who it is for. For creators and video editors who want an agent to prepare a rough cut while retaining manual control over the edit.
Good fit when
- You need to remove repeated takes and review a report of the cuts
- An interview or lecture needs several shorter highlight clips
- You have a script and need voiceover and an editable video project
- You want a processing estimate before uploading footage
Not a fit when
- The footage cannot be shared with a cloud processor
- You need to rerun `oralcut` while preserving manual edits: the command generates a new rough cut
- You need a native gtrk desktop client on macOS or Linux: the current client is Windows-only
Example request
Prepare a rough cut of this interview. Before processing, check its language and external audio, then show the files to upload and a current cost estimate.Limitations
Cloud operations require an API key and an available service balance; CLI installation does not include free media processing. oralcut defaults to Chinese, with limited support for other languages. The command rejects source recordings longer than two hours, so check duration before uploading. Exported effects depend on the project format and some graphics need pre-rendering; inspect the result in your target video editor.
How to disable. Remove the gtrk skills from your agent and uninstall the package with `npm uninstall -g @gitruck/cli`. Revoke the cloud key in the dashboard. Preserve projects with their source media because editing files may reference the original locations.
FAQ
How do I install gtrk with its skills?
Run `npx @gitruck/cli@latest install`. The installer sets up the CLI and skills and guides key configuration. Open a new agent session afterward.
Can I install only the skills?
Yes, with `npx skills add Gitruck/cli`. This does not install the CLI or provide a cloud key; configure those separately.
What material reaches the server?
Ordinary `oralcut` extracts and uploads audio. Visual assistance sends compressed video; other cloud tools may require video uploads. Check which files the selected command uploads.
How can I estimate cost before processing?
Add `--dry-run` to `oralcut`. It inspects duration and requests pricing without extraction, upload or billing. If current pricing is unavailable, do not substitute an old estimate.
Can I refine an existing project?
Yes. After manual editing, use `gtrk project export --project <directory>`. Running `oralcut` again generates a new rough cut rather than preserving manual decisions.
What license and model costs apply?
MIT covers the CLI. Cloud services and your agent’s model have separate charges.

README in short
The CLI runs on Windows, macOS and Linux. The separate gtrk client for previewing and manually editing projects is currently Windows-only.
