Hark CLI

Hark sends iPhone notifications from agents and scripts, asks you to approve risky commands and shows task progress

Broad access

Why this level

  • Approvals and permission requests pass through the external hark.fyi service and your phone, and `harkctl permissions setup all` changes agent settings
  • Notification text, action names and metadata go to the service's servers, and a webhook's secret address lets anyone who knows it send messages in your name
  • Signing in to MCP over OAuth gives the agent your Hark account, including creating services and webhooks for external systems
All reasons and checks

Install

In your terminal, with SkillFoxx CLI

npx skillfoxx add cli/hark

Detects the agents on your machine, shows the access level and pins the version.

What it does

Hark turns webhooks into iPhone notifications with the source's name and avatar. An agent or script posts JSON to a service's secret address, and Hark delivers the message, counts delivery attempts and lists registered devices in a web dashboard. Only the `body` field is required, and the rest is optional: title, image, link, project, short summary. Agents have three entry points. The `hark` skill installs with `npx skills add R44VC0RP/hark --skill hark --global`, the `harkctl` command-line tool installs through npm and signs in with `harkctl auth login`, and an MCP client connects to the remote server `https://hark.fyi/mcp` and signs in over OAuth. The agent can then send notifications, ask for approval or a text reply, and run a Live Activity with progress on the lock screen and in the Dynamic Island. With `harkctl permissions setup all`, permission requests from Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode V1 and V2 go to the phone. Only an explicit approval lets an action through, and any other outcome denies it. Team features exist too: shared apps, on-call rotations and paging.

Who it is for. People who run long agent tasks or CI and want to learn of their completion on an iPhone and confirm risky actions from the phone without sitting at the laptop.

Good fit when

  • An agent is on a long task and you need to know when it finishes without watching the terminal
  • Before a production deploy the agent must get your yes from the phone
  • You want to see release progress as a Live Activity on the lock screen
  • Scripts, monitoring and CI should send uniform notifications over webhooks
  • A team needs to page the on-call person on an error threshold without duplicate signals

Not a fit when

  • You have no iPhone: the notification app is released for iOS
  • Data must not go to an external service: Hark delivers messages through its own cloud service at hark.fyi
  • You need a self-hosted server: the README describes only the hosted service
  • Approval must work without a phone and the internet: any other outcome denies the request

Example request

When the migration finishes, send me an iPhone notification, and ask for approval through Hark before dropping the old tables

Limitations

  • A hark.fyi account and the Hark iPhone app are required. The CLI install needs Node.js 22 or newer.
  • Personal use is free: one iPhone and 10,000 notifications a month. Shared apps and paging need a team subscription, so check pricing on the pricing page.
  • A message can be up to 8,000 characters. Routing to specific devices works only for legacy Hark Pro accounts.
  • Withdrawing a delivered notification is best effort: iOS does not guarantee a background command will run.

How to disable. The `harkctl permissions setup all` command changes agent settings, so roll them back with the same tool or by hand. Remove the `hark` skill from the agent skills directory, run `npm uninstall -g harkctl` and revoke tokens in the hark.fyi dashboard. Services and webhooks can be deleted in the web dashboard.

FAQ

How do I connect Hark to Claude Code?

Through MCP: `claude mcp add --transport http hark https://hark.fyi/mcp`, then sign in over OAuth. Or install the skill with `npx skills add R44VC0RP/hark --skill hark --global` and the CLI with `npm install -g harkctl`.

How do I get agent permission requests on my phone?

Run `harkctl auth login --client-name "Coding agent permissions"`, then `harkctl permissions setup all`. Requests from Claude Code, Codex and OpenCode go to the iPhone, and only an explicit approval lets an action through.

Is a subscription required?

Not for personal use: one iPhone and 10,000 notifications a month are free. Teams pay per member, and prices are on the hark.fyi pricing page.

What do I send to the webhook?

A POST request with JSON to the service's secret address. Only the `body` field of up to 8,000 characters is required, and `title`, `imageUrl`, `url`, `project` and `summary` are optional.

Can I avoid duplicates on retry?

Yes, pass an `Idempotency-Key` header and a repeated request will not create a second notification.

README in short

The README opens with a video and a four-step quickstart: skill, CLI, sign-in and a first question to the agent. It continues with features and pricing, webhook setup with a field table, Live Activities, web apps, team features, `harkctl` with permission routing and connecting the remote MCP for Claude Code, Cursor and others.
