What it does
Markdy turns a text description into animated diagrams for system design, documentation and walkthroughs: for example how a request goes through a cache and a database. It is a library and a CLI: `npm install -g @markdy/cli`, rendering `npx @markdy/cli render system.markdy --out diagram.html`. For agents there is an MCP server: `claude mcp add markdy -- npx -y @markdy/mcp-server`. Version 1.5.7 from 30.09.2026, MIT license.
Who it is for. For developers and technical writers who need to show how a system works step by step in documentation and articles.
Good fit when
- You need an animated architecture diagram in documentation
- You need to describe a diagram in text and keep it in the repository
- An agent should build animated diagrams through MCP
Not a fit when
- You need an interactive mouse editor: the diagram is defined by text
- You need a static picture: the result is animated
Example request
Describe in Markdy a request scenario through a Redis cache and a PostgreSQL database and save the animated diagram as HTMLLimitations
Diagrams are described in text in the Markdy language and the result is saved as HTML. The MCP server and CLI write files into the project, access is minimal. The README has links to the author's paid templates and they are not needed for work.
How to disable. Remove the skill from the agent's folder or the plugin through the plugin manager.
