How we reviewExtended accessThe tool runs code or makes network calls and only reads external data.

This is third-party code. Review the repository files before installing.
What it does
An agent investigates source and tests, then writes linked Markdown pages into `openwiki/`. OpenWiki retains completed-page state and evidence behind its claims. Finished pages survive interruptions, and updates can focus on changed sources. Group completed wikis into workspaces for cross-project search. Retrieval tools read selected sections without starting generation or model calls. Humans can read the same pages or explore a graph, validating conclusions against code and tests.
Who it is for. Maintainers of related repositories keeping documentation readable by people and searchable by agents with source evidence.
Good fit when
- A new project member asks an agent questions about an existing repository wiki.
- Code changes have made individual documentation claims stale.
- A service spans several repositories and an answer crosses their boundaries.
- Generation was interrupted after some pages had already been saved.
Not a fit when
- Generated pages would be accepted without source verification.
- The coding-agent integration must generate a personal knowledge base instead of code wikis.
- The chosen agent or generation provider may not access the project.
Example request
Build a test-repository OpenWiki from source and tests, retaining evidence and listing unanswered questions.Limitations
Node.js 22.22.0 or later and an installed agent integration are required. That integration generates repository wikis; personal knowledge bases and connector context, including LangSmith, are not supported in this mode. Generation uses the agent’s model session and code access, so follow source-sharing and provider billing rules. Evidence references can become stale after code changes; drift flagged by OpenWiki requires review and page updates.
How to disable. Remove the relevant integration, for example `openwiki integrations uninstall codex` for Codex. For a project-scoped installation, add `--project` with its path. Stop any active generation; the Markdown wiki remains.
FAQ
Where are pages stored?
Normally in `openwiki/` as linked Markdown files, readable and editable with an ordinary editor.
How do I update a wiki after code changes?
In the connected agent, ask for an update covering changes since the last successful run. OpenWiki checks claim evidence and identifies pages requiring renewed investigation.
Can I search across repositories?
Yes. `openwiki link` groups existing wikis into a workspace, and results identify their source wiki.
How do I inspect user and project integrations?
`openwiki integrations list` shows user-level installations. Add `--project` and the repository path to inspect project-level state. The same flag works with `install` and `uninstall`; the path resolves to the Git repository root.
Is a page graph available?
Yes. `openwiki visualize` opens a local graph with Markdown pages beside it.
