What it does
LLM Wiki Compiler helps an agent turn scattered material into topic articles. During initialization, the agent samples files and proposes an article structure for user approval or adjustment. The agent then synthesizes subjects with source backlinks. It supports Markdown knowledge collections and a separate codebase mode. The wiki can be read in Obsidian, queried by an agent or explored as a graph. Changed sources can be recompiled incrementally.
Who it is for. Project-documentation owners whose decisions are scattered across notes, research and source code.
Good fit when
- Fresh agent sessions repeatedly reread the same large files.
- Several notes need one topic article with backlinks.
- An unfamiliar repository needs a component and decision overview.
- Updated sources require rebuilding affected topics.
Not a fit when
- The wiki must be a verbatim archive of every source file.
- Private material must not reach the agent’s model.
- Synthesized articles would be trusted without source checks.
Example request
Propose a wiki structure for these project notes before compiling, retaining links to source files.Limitations
Compilation uses the agent’s model, so cost and quality depend on context and source volume. Articles can omit details or combine facts incorrectly; check important claims through backlinks. Automatic context hooks are documented for Claude Code, while Codex follows skill guidance and user prompts. Staleness warnings are off by default; enable prompts or refresh the wiki manually before relying on it after source changes.
How to disable. Disable the plugin and set `staging` mode in `.wiki-compiler.json` if needed. Generated wiki files and approved startup-rule changes remain for separate review.
FAQ
Which Claude Code command comes first?
Start with `/wiki-init`, then run `/wiki-compile` after agreeing the structure.
How do I open the graph?
Use `/wiki-visualize` for the interactive view.
Where is the index?
Open `wiki/INDEX.md` in Obsidian or give it to the agent.
Does the plugin always edit AGENTS.md?
No. Ordinary compilation writes a separate wiki; `/wiki-migrate` can apply a new startup section after confirmation.
How do I enable staleness warnings?
Set `auto_update` to `prompt` in `.wiki-compiler.json`.
