What it does
SigMap builds a code map of the project and checks that an agent answer rests on real files and is not made up. Launch `npx sigmap` on any machine with no dependencies, embeddings, vector database or network, and per the author's description it supports 38 languages. There is a question to the project: `npx sigmap ask "Where is auth handled?"`. Permanent installation: `npm install -g sigmap` or into a project: `npm install --save-dev sigmap`. Version 8.67.0 from 05.10.2026, MIT license.
Who it is for. For developers who need a compact code map for an agent and a check that an answer cites real code.
Good fit when
- You need a code map for agent context
- You need a grounding check of an answer
- You need a tool with no network and no dependencies
Not a fit when
- You need semantic search on embeddings
- You need guarantees of token savings: the author's figures are self-assessment
Example request
Build a code map of the project and ask where authorization is handled, with file referencesLimitations
It works locally with no network and reads the repository, so access is minimal. The author's claim of strong token savings is his self-assessment, so measure on your own project. The map needs rebuilding after big changes.
How to disable. Remove the package with npm uninstall -g sigmap or from the project and the map files it created.
