Access and checks

How we review

Minimal accessThe tool runs nothing and makes no network calls.

  • Analysis is local and there is no telemetry per the README
  • Paid layers separately

This is third-party code. Review the repository files before installing.

What it does

roam-code analyzes code locally and gives an agent an index, graphs and checks across the project. Installation: `pip install "roam-code[mcp]"`, and `pipx install "roam-code[mcp]"` for isolation. The CLI is free and paid layers are described in the README in a separate section Paid layers. Per the README code is not sent out automatically and there is no telemetry. Version 14.1.0 from 09.09.2026, Apache-2.0 license.

Who it is for. For developers who need local analysis of a big repository for an agent without sending code out.

Good fit when

  • You need a local index and graph of code for an agent
  • You need project checks by a CLI command
  • You need an MCP mode for code analysis

Not a fit when

  • You need the paid layers for free: they are separate
  • You need cloud analysis with shared access

Example request

Build the project index and show the most connected modules and places where the dependency graph is too tangled

Limitations

Analysis goes locally, code is not sent automatically and there is no telemetry per the README, so access is minimal. The paid layers are described separately: check the terms before use. Version 14.x, the project evolves fast.

How to disable. Remove the package with pipx uninstall roam-code or pip uninstall roam-code and the project indexes.
