What it does
simfleet manages a fleet of iOS simulators and Android emulators when several branches and agents work on one React Native app at once. Devices boot in a slimmed form, and a live browser dashboard shows each one and accepts taps, swipes and typed text. A lane ties one worktree, one device and one Metro port from the environment range together, so agents cannot take each other's devices or ports. The native build cache for Expo rebuilds native code only when its inputs change. The `simfleet skill install` command adds a skill for Claude Code and Codex, and the CLI ties every call to an agent session.
Who it is for. React Native and Expo developers running several branches and agents at once on a single Mac.
Good fit when
- Five app branches run under agents and the simulators eat all memory.
- Metro servers fight over port 8081.
- Switching between staging and production triggers a native rebuild every time.
- You need to see which agent, Claude Code or Codex, currently drives which device.
Not a fit when
- The work machine does not run macOS.
- The app is fully native without React Native, so Metro ports and the Expo cache add nothing.
- One branch and one agent: plain Xcode and a simulator are enough.
Example request
Boot two slimmed iOS simulators, start a lane for the feature/cart branch in the development environment and open the app.Limitations
Runs on macOS only and needs Bun 1.1 or newer. iOS needs Xcode plus the `simslim`, `baguette` and `watchman` Homebrew packages; Android needs the Android SDK, `avdslim` and `scrcpy`. Either platform can be skipped, and `simfleet status` reports what is missing. A running iOS simulator older than four minutes is not slimmed automatically; it gets a needs-reboot status and waits for a restart. Android lanes work in debug mode only, and the native build cache targets Expo. The dashboard and API listen on local address 127.0.0.1:8790, so do not forward that port outside.
How to disable. Stop `simfleet serve`, run `bun remove -g simfleet` and delete the skill from `~/.claude/skills/simfleet` and `~/.codex/skills/simfleet`. Remove the `.sim-fleet` folder in the project separately.
FAQ
How do I install the simfleet skill for Claude Code?
Run `simfleet skill install`: the skill lands in `~/.claude/skills/simfleet` and `~/.codex/skills/simfleet`. `--project` puts it in the project, and `--claude` or `--codex` keeps a single agent.
What is a lane in simfleet?
A lane ties one worktree, one device and one Metro port from the environment range together. It never takes another lane's device, worktree or port.
Does simfleet work with Android?
Yes. Boot an emulator with `simfleet emu boot <avd>`; it starts slimmed, and Android lanes run in debug mode.
How does simfleet know which agent touches a device?
The CLI reads `CLAUDE_CODE_SESSION_ID` or `CODEX_THREAD_ID` and sends it with every request. Other agents can set `SIMFLEET_AGENT` and `SIMFLEET_SESSION_ID`.
What does simfleet need to run?
macOS and Bun 1.1 or newer. iOS needs Xcode, `simslim`, `baguette` and `watchman`; Android needs the Android SDK, `avdslim` and `scrcpy`.
