Broad access
Why this level
- The executor runs Claude Code with workspace access and can automatically create commits and pull requests.
- With Slack connected, tasks and results pass through an external workspace service.

What it does
Sleepless Agent is a Claude Code CLI that accepts tasks from the terminal or Slack. A background process selects a job, runs it through the installed agent and saves the result. Users can return later to inspect status and open a task’s report. Each job receives a separate working directory. Project work can use a branch and pull request for review. Thought-type jobs can commit automatically, so select the task type according to how the team accepts results.
Who it is for. Claude Code users queuing approved work for later review after background execution.
Good fit when
- Several jobs are queued for later status review.
- Project-task output goes to a separate review branch.
- A team submits tasks from its Slack workspace.
- The scheduler follows selected daytime and nighttime usage thresholds.
Not a fit when
- You need a container or VM boundary for each job.
- Automatic commits and pull-request creation are prohibited.
- You expect the scheduler to provide extra Claude quota.
Example request
Queue a test Sleepless Agent task and show its execution plan and report without merging automatically.Limitations
Python 3.11 or later, Git and an authenticated official Claude Code installation are required to execute queued jobs. A separate working directory does not protect the host: agent commands retain the running process’s permissions. Thought-type jobs can commit automatically, while project tasks use a branch and review, so choose the appropriate task type beforehand. The latest commit was in March 2026; test compatibility with your Claude Code version before leaving the daemon running for long jobs.
How to disable. Stop `sle daemon` or its configured system service. Inspect queued jobs and created branches separately; stopping the daemon does not reverse published output.
FAQ
Is Slack required?
No. Core commands work through `sle`. Connecting Slack separately requires permission to configure an app in your workspace.
How do I submit a job without Slack?
With the daemon running, use `sle think "Research async Python patterns"`, replacing the description with your task.
How do I inspect status?
Use `sle check` for daemon and queue status.
Where do I inspect one result?
Run `sle report 42` with the task identifier. The report links results to the working branch.
How is Claude invoked?
Through the Python Agent SDK and installed Claude Code CLI. The executor checks CLI availability before working.

README in short
The project supports interactive Slack-thread conversations as well as operation without Slack. Configuration separates regular settings from deployment secrets.
