What it does
Story UI generates Storybook stories with AI for any framework and design system and also provides an MCP server. Installation and setup: `npx @tpitre/story-ui@latest init` asks a few questions, then `npx story-ui check` confirms everything works. An Anthropic, OpenAI or Gemini API key is needed. Playwright is recommended for checking its own results: `npx playwright install chromium`. Version 5.21.2 from 25.09.2026, MIT license.
Who it is for. For frontend teams that maintain a design system in Storybook and want to get component stories faster.
Good fit when
- You need to create Storybook stories for components quickly
- You need story generation for your design system
- You need an MCP server for Storybook
Not a fit when
- You cannot send component code to an external AI provider
- You have no Anthropic, OpenAI or Gemini key
Example request
Generate Storybook stories for the Button and Card components of our design system and run the checkLimitations
An Anthropic, OpenAI or Gemini key is needed and component code goes to the chosen provider, so check the company policy. The tool writes story files into the project, so access is broad. Keep the key in environment variables.
How to disable. Remove the skill from the agent's folder or the plugin through the plugin manager.
