Extended access
Why this level
- The agent writes and runs scripts inside your Blender, and a script can change or delete objects in the open scene
- The add-on opens a channel in Blender to the MCP server on your computer
Install
- Works in
In your terminal, with SkillFoxx CLI
npx skillfoxx add mcp/blender-mcp-vxaiDetects the agents on your machine, shows the access level and pins the version.

What it does
Blender MCP VxAI connects an MCP client to a running Blender. The agent gets a scene described in words, writes scripts for it and runs them in Blender, then sees the result and corrects it as the chat goes on. The project lists objects, modeling, materials, animation, rendering and scene management. The server starts with uvx blender-mcp-vxai. Inside Blender runs the blender_mcp_addon.py add-on: once installed in the add-on settings, a BlenderMCP tab appears in the 3D view sidebar, and the connection is started from there. You need Blender, Python 3.8 or newer and the uv package manager. The project's examples give the agent an image with an architectural plan and ask it to build a 3D scene from it. The scene is then exported straight into the working project and turned into a world for a ThreeJS app.
Who it is for. For 3D artists and developers who want to build scenes in Blender through Cursor, Cline, Windsurf or Claude Desktop and carry the models into their own app.
Good fit when
- You want a Blender MCP that installs with one uvx command and needs no build from source
- You need a rough 3D scene from an image or plan, refined afterwards with follow-up messages
- A finished scene has to be exported into an app project, for example for ThreeJS
- You want to change materials, lighting, camera and colors by description without opening Blender panels
- You work in Cursor, Cline or Windsurf and want Blender to be an agent tool
Not a fit when
- You need a project that is actively maintained: the repository's last update is from March 2025
- Blender runs on a machine where you cannot install an add-on: without it the server can do nothing
- You need a read-only safe mode: the agent writes and runs scripts inside Blender
- You need documented tools with parameter descriptions: the README lists only areas of work

Limitations
Keep the add-on and the server on the same version: the project asks you to take the add-on file from the release matching the package version and to update both on an upgrade. The agent works through scripts, so the result depends on the model and on how precisely the scene is described. Older package versions use a separate start command described in the project. The license is MIT. The agent's scripts run in the open scene, so save your Blender file before experimenting. Keys and accounts are not mentioned in the project description.
How to disable. Stop the server on the BlenderMCP tab in the Blender sidebar, disable the add-on in Blender preferences and remove the blender-mcp-vxai entry from the client config.
FAQ
How do I install Blender MCP VxAI for Cursor?
Install uv, add a new server in Cursor, name it blender-mcp and set the command to uvx blender-mcp-vxai. Then install the blender_mcp_addon.py add-on in Blender and start the server on the BlenderMCP tab.
What do I need for a Blender MCP on Claude Desktop?
In Claude open Settings, Developer, Edit Config and add a server named blender to claude_desktop_config.json with the command uvx and the argument blender-mcp-vxai. The Blender add-on is installed the same way as for Cursor.
How does this version differ from other Blender MCP servers in the catalog?
It is a separate VxASI project with its own blender-mcp-vxai package and add-on. It describes a flow from an image to exporting the scene into a ThreeJS app.
What if the connection to Blender fails?
Check that the MCP server is running and the add-on is installed and enabled, then read the error messages in the Blender console.
Do I need Python and uv for this Blender MCP?
Yes. The project requires Blender and Python 3.8 or newer, and uv runs the server. On macOS install uv with brew; on Windows and Linux use pip.

README in short
The README walks from an image to a finished world: prepare a picture, load it into an MCP client, state the task, refine the scene with replies and export the result into a project. It also covers installing uv, configuring Cursor and Claude Desktop, installing the add-on and typical problems. Different package versions need a matching add-on file, taken from the repository tag.
