Broad access
Why this level
- The token grants broad server access: deploys, databases, deletion and settings.
- The agent can change a production environment through 508 tools.
Install
- Works in
In your terminal, with SkillFoxx CLI
npx skillfoxx add mcp/dokploy-mcp-serverDetects the agents on your machine, shows the access level and pins the version.

What it does
Dokploy MCP Server exposes every Dokploy API endpoint as an MCP tool: 508 tools across 49 categories covering projects and applications, databases, notifications, SSO, Docker, backups and more. The client connects to your Dokploy server at `DOKPLOY_URL` with the `DOKPLOY_API_KEY` token. The server runs over stdio (default) and HTTP, and a Docker image exists. The toolset can be narrowed with `DOKPLOY_TOOL_PRESET` (`minimal`, `core`, `deploy`, `databases`, `git`) or tags. Secrets in API responses are redacted by default.
Who it is for. Dokploy server owners who want to deploy and repair applications through an agent in Cursor, Claude Code or VS Code.
Good fit when
- An application should be rebuilt and shipped to your own server without opening the Dokploy panel.
- An agent should show the state of projects, databases and containers in one request.
- Backups and notifications are configured from a task description.
- A client struggles with hundreds of tools, so the set is narrowed to `deploy` or `databases`.
Not a fit when
- Dokploy is not deployed: the MCP only calls its API.
- An agent cannot be trusted to change a production server unattended.
- The Dokploy token cannot be kept in the client configuration.

Environment variables
`DOKPLOY_URL`required- Address of your Dokploy server, for example `https://your-dokploy-server.com`.
`DOKPLOY_API_KEY`required, secret- Dokploy API token; it grants full server access, so scope it tightly.
Limitations
The `DOKPLOY_API_KEY` token gives the agent the rights of the token's owner, and the 508 tools include deletion and settings changes. For a production server narrow the set with `DOKPLOY_TOOL_PRESET` and disable unneeded tags. Secret redaction in responses (`DOKPLOY_REDACT_ENV`) is on by default and should stay on. GitHub does not recognise the repository license (NOASSERTION). The last repository activity was in September 2026.
How to disable. Remove the `dokploy-mcp` entry from the client configuration, stop the container if HTTP mode ran, and revoke the token in the Dokploy panel.
FAQ
How do I reduce the number of tools?
Set `DOKPLOY_TOOL_PRESET` to `minimal`, `core`, `deploy`, `databases` or `git`. Fine tuning goes through `DOKPLOY_ENABLED_TAGS` and `DOKPLOY_DISABLED_TAGS`.
How do I run HTTP mode?
In Docker pass `MCP_TRANSPORT=http` with `DOKPLOY_URL` and `DOKPLOY_API_KEY`, then point the client at `http://localhost:3000/mcp`.
Do passwords and environment variables reach the agent?
Not by default: `DOKPLOY_REDACT_ENV=true` hides secret-bearing fields. `DOKPLOY_REDACT_FIELDS` changes the field list.
Which clients are supported?
The README has setups for Cursor, Windsurf, VS Code, Claude Code, Zed, Claude Desktop, BoltAI and OpenCode.
What is required to connect?
Node.js 18 or newer (or Docker), an MCP-capable client and a running Dokploy server. Set `DOKPLOY_URL` and `DOKPLOY_API_KEY` in the environment.

README in short
The server is generated from Dokploy's OpenAPI description, so it covers the whole API. Presets and tags help clients that struggle with large tool lists.
