mcp-vkontakte
MCP for VK on your own server: a VK API method catalog, reading walls and communities, community comparison and writes only after a human approves
- 0 ★ on the repository

Broad access
Why this level
- VK tokens open personal messages, walls and communities
- Writing and deleting on walls is possible with granted rights, though execution needs human approval
Install
- Works in
- Services
Manual install
Connect the MCP server at my VPS address following `docs/CLIENTS.md`. Do not ask for VK tokens in chat: the user enters them in the protected cabinet. Prepare any write as a plan and wait for human approval in the browser.

What it does
The 0.1.0 prototype on Python 3.12 is placed on your own VPS and serves several users, each with their own VK token. The agent gets a method catalog from the pinned official VK API schema with search in Russian words and reads walls, profiles, communities, dialogs, statistics, products and photos within the permissions VK granted. Two scenarios set the project apart. First, changes and publications are prepared as a plan with immutable parameters and run only after a person signs in to a separate confirmation page in the browser. The model gets no confirmation tool. Second, community comparison over a period with post frequency, reactions, medians, ER by views, formats and publication times, with formulas and calculation limits. The project encrypts VK tokens and prepared actions, checks the OAuth audience and CSRF, and limits requests and data sizes. Deployment with Keycloak and HTTPS is described in the `docs` folder.
Who it is for. SMM teams and VK community owners who are ready to deploy their own server and want an agent to analyze and prepare posts with no write rights without approval.
Good fit when
- Two communities are compared over a month by post frequency, reactions and ER
- The agent prepares a publication and a person releases it after reviewing the plan on the confirmation page
- Several employees connect to one server with their own VK tokens
- You need to find the right VK API method from a description in Russian
- The agent has to read a wall, photos and dialogs within the token permissions
Not a fit when
- You need a quick start on a laptop: the project is meant for a VPS with Keycloak and HTTPS
- You need arbitrary HTTP requests or code execution: the first version has none
- You need VK Ads: a separate modern ads API is not claimed
- Real tokens in your application are not verified yet and you need a production-ready system

Limitations
The author calls it a prototype: HTTPS, Keycloak sign-in, MCP over Streamable HTTP and rejection without authorization are verified, while real VK tokens and OAuth in specific applications are not yet. Self-registration is closed until a public service is prepared.
A method in the catalog does not mean availability for a given token: VK ID sign-in, a user token, a community token and a service key have different rights. Binary file uploads and media download by URL are absent. Running needs Keycloak and encryption settings, and there is no mode without authorization. The project is not an official VK product.
How to disable. Stop the service on the VPS, revoke the VK tokens in the VK application settings, then remove the server from the client settings.
FAQ
How does the agent publish to a community?
It prepares a plan with immutable parameters. The plan runs only after a person signs in to the confirmation page: the model has no tool to confirm on its own.
Where are the client connection details?
`docs/CLIENTS.md` covers connecting clients and compatibility limits, and `docs/DEPLOYMENT.md` covers deployment with Keycloak and HTTPS.
Can the server run without Keycloak?
No. Running needs Keycloak and encryption settings, and the project has no mode without authorization.
Does search work on any user walls?
Only within the permissions of the issued token. The author advises checking real rights separately on a live account.
What does the community comparison calculate?
Post frequency, reactions, medians, ER by views and by member count, plus the distribution of formats and publication times with formulas and limits.
