What it does
The server wraps the NewDB REST API in eight MCP tools: passport validity via the MVD database, debts and enforcement proceedings from FSSP, company registry data with founders and the director from EGRUL, account holds from FNS decisions, bankruptcy records from Fedresurs, plus two combined checks: a full background check on a person by passport across FNS, MVD, FSSP, Fedresurs, courts and pledges, and a full company check by INN. A separate tool reports the remaining request balance on the token. The server requires a paid NEWDB_API_KEY, requested by email at access@newdb.net, and talks to https://api.newdb.net/v2 by default.
Who it is for. For security teams, lawyers and finance staff who vet counterparties and individuals before a deal and want to do it directly from an agent.
Good fit when

- You need a combined report on a counterparty pulled from several official registries at once
Not a fit when
- You don't have a paid NewDB key and can't get one: the server does not work without NEWDB_API_KEY
- You need a legally binding certificate rather than a preliminary check
- You need a free source for the same data: the FNS and FSSP also offer free direct lookups

The repository has no license file, though package.json declares MIT. It does not contain the package source: only the README and package.json are published, the actual code ships inside the @newdb/mcp-server npm package. The service is paid, and pricing and limits are not described in the README; the balance is checked with a separate tool. Passport, debt and bankruptcy data is sensitive, so checks should only be run with a lawful basis.
How to disable. Remove the newdb block from mcpServers in claude_desktop_config.json, or delete the server from your MCP client settings.
