What it does

The server ships a prebuilt SQLite database of Russian federal laws and codes with full-text search, and returns exact article text to the agent rather than a paraphrase. It offers tools to search law text, fetch an article by law and article number, check whether a provision is still in force, format and validate a legal citation, and cross-reference an EU legal basis for comparative work. Article text comes back verbatim from the database, with no model processing. It runs as a remote HTTP server with no install, or locally via npx.

Who it is for. For lawyers, compliance staff and legal tech developers who need an exact statute citation inside an agent.

Limitations

The npm package owner and the repository URL in its metadata point to Ansvar Systems (Sweden), not the shodenis account: this looks like a copy of someone else's open source project republished under a different name with no independent changes. Case law, subordinate regulations and regional law are not included. The remote server is hosted outside Russia, so access from Russia without a VPN is not guaranteed; the local npx run works offline once the database is installed. The Apache-2.0 license permits this reuse of the code, but it does not vouch for who actually maintains it.

How to disable. Remove the server from your MCP client config, for example with claude mcp remove russian-law in Claude Code.
